Hi all,

I'm planning to go to Barcelona, Spain this spring/summer for 1 day but I do not know when to go. Basically, I am 19 years old and I have been in the Netherlands my whole life although I have Spanish blood(from Spain, not South-America).

I need some advice for when to go. I can go next weekend if I want to, the only period I can't go is from 1 may till 22 may due to my finals.

I had a day in mind: Monday, 23 June because Spain will play versus Australia(Soccer) and I know Spanish people love soccer more than anything so I expect the streets to be crowded. But then again, I am not familiar in Spain so I don't know if mondays are great in Spain.

What do I want to do there? Watch the match at a bar/restaurant/whatever and go out to get laid in the night. I won't book a room because I stay for 1 day so I just want to spend the night at clubs and thereafter I will already have to leave to the airport to go back to NL.

I'm asking you guys some advice on what day I should go to Barcelona.

There's so many odd things with this post but I'll start with the obvious.

How are you planning to get laid if you don't have a room?

Again, I have no knowledge of the Spanish girls in Spain. I approach everything from a Dutch view(I know it is wrong, but it's the only one I have).

This will be my first travel alone. I haven't been on vacation for 5 years or less.

Trollish post but a few things:

1. If more people are out for a football match the majority will be men.
2. Catalan women tend to have some class so don't be too optimistic about banging one in the street. Youth in Spain are struggling economically and many will live with their parents.
3. Rent on Air BnB or stay in a hostel, for a few nights.

I'm really no troll. Why is it that everytime a beginner posts something it is considered as trolling? I don't have the travel knowledge, of course I am not experienced and will say stupid things.

Thanks for the post by the way. I will see if I can fix to stay at a hostel. I have family in Spain but the problem is they are conservative so it is impossible for me to go out there and bring home a girl.

I understand but when someone pops up looking for a bang without arranging any accommodation it's a bit odd.

Barcelona is a fantastic city (the best I've ever been to) and you need more than a day to do it justice. Don't rush yourself, enjoy it and you can find a cheap hostel in a good location with a party atmosphere. I'd recommend the Kabul Hostel.

IMO if you're in Barcelona during a touristy season and only there a day or two you should be gaming the foreign tourists not the local Catalan girls.

Even G has said the locals are tough to game without significant gaming skills and Spanish/Catalan. If you are only going to be there for a day or so and want to hit the clubs well then go on a Friday or Saturday night I'd assume. Definitely plan on smoking and use that as an opener as the Spanish smoke a ton.

The post does sound trollish...So you're of Spanish origin and have family in Spain yet it sounds like you'd never been here before and you only have 1 day for Barcelona? You live in Netherlands, you could fly every weekend to Spain if you wanted to, it's just 2 hours by plane...but be as it may, here is some advice from me: if you are into nightlife choose Madrid, beats Barcelona hands down (I have lived in both cities, currently in Barcelona)..Barcelona nightlife exists for and because of the tourists, were it not for them this place would be a lunar landscape...as a matter of fact it is at night in most of the neighbourhoods, even in the centre (Eixample) streets are eerily empty there at night...Catalans are not party people, they are quite cliquish and you will find them sitting in groups at some corner bar/restaurant table out on the pavement blabbering about whatever they like to blabber about...that's the social circle thing, not only in Catalunya, in all of Spain boys are expected to be friends (read beta orbiters) before they can be considered boyfriend material...same night lays are possible ocassionally (i've done it) but in my situation I live here and had time to pre-game the girls online before meeting them before meeting for a date where I seal the deal, but even in those cases they wouldn't have done it had i been a tourist just passing by, you both still have to keep an act and play a theater, the local two-facedness so, forget about you showing up for 1 night here and cleaning up. but why would you wanna just come for 1 night? come here regularly, explore the country there is so much to it. I assume you speak Spanish that gives you an advantage, try to create some social circle through your family connections, and pipeline girls before coming. eventually you will get lucky.

Hi,

I am not 100% Spanish,and I don't speak Spanish fluently, only Dutch(been raised in Dutch language) and English. I have been to Spain but that was years ago when I was a little kid and the family that I have there are old, conservative people. I am 19 years at the moment, didn't have the money to travel a lot in the past but it is getting well. The reason why I just want to go for 1 day is because this is my first travel by my own so I assumed Barcelona was a good 'start'.

I was considering Madrid too, maybe that is indeed a better place for me to go. Do you have an advice for a datum? Should I hit the weekends or are normal days also good?

There's loads of cool bars in the Raval area, and it's pretty lively at nighttime. That said, I think getting in with Spaniards/Catalonians will not be easy.
You'll find it easier to crack onto some Anglo/Oz/US types, plenty of tourist chicks around, mostly in mixed groups but also some groups/pairs of women, and they seemed open to conversation from randomers, when I was there recently.
If you're clubbing, not much happens before midnight, and really it's 2 or even 3am before some clubs get busy, so expect some late nights.
Check the Barcelona datasheet, plenty of good info there.

my advice:
Enjoy the city for what it is and don't be too focused on women. Barcelona is a great city. Enjoy it. Going there will make you more interesting, which will set you up for future stories to tell. That is all.

Hardly any chance of pulling a Catalan/Spanish girl in one night in BCN. So why make this a goal of your visit? Just not in their blood(thankfully). It is possible though. If your plan is to hit BCN and get laid all in one night it is for sure possible, but I would aim for non locals. You can pull a tourist or an expat. I would aim for an expat cause she should have a flat with roommates. This will help with your logistics. Hit the touristy clubs by the beach and La Rambla(ughhh). Friday night is the night out in BCN. Keep a close eye on your wallet and mobile in Barcelona.

But, with all that said, why? You can find white girls anywhere. Barcelona is an amazing city, and your visit would be better spent seeing the city. Having spent about a year there and I would recommend you reconsider your priorities of a visit to BCN. I can fully recommend seeing any futbol game in BCN. Save your drink money and spend it on a futbol ticket.
