It's becoming increasingly common for men of my generation to grow up without a significant positive male influence in their lives. For the rest of this post I shall refer to such men as kings.

A king is a leader. A man whose experience and stature inspire men to follow him into battle. A man who has his own code of ethics. A man who sets boundaries and enforces them. A man who doesn't take shit from anybody. A man who is successful in business and with women.

It used to be that boys could grow up and look to their fathers and uncles as kings. But as the cultural and legal landscape has degraded, men are no longer kings in their own castles. Many former kingdoms have collapsed in this Brave New World and have left no inheritance for the next generation of kings.

Men growing up today have no idea that they've descended from royalty. They've been robbed of their fathers. They've been robbed of their kingdoms. They've been robbed of experiencing the great joys that come from being a king. They don't form strong bonds with other kings and they don't embark on long campaigns to dominate nature and other kingdoms.

Instead boys that grow up today are sent out into the world lost and completely unaware of their heritage. They're more likely to learn how to be a princess than a king. Whiney, entitled, weak and reliant on the labor of others to continue their existence. They sit around drinking the Soma and thinking that they've got life figured out.

For the longest time I was lost. I got out of the land of princesses and left Murika to find my lost kingdom. My travels took me all over the world and I was fortunate enough to meet several kings along the way. These were older men who had succeeded in building castles in hostile lands.

I never got to spend too much time with these men, as our travel and work schedules were not very forgiving. With some noteworthy kings I learned more from them in a day of conversation and hunting than I learned during the first 20 years of my life. The lessons I learned by reading dozens of books and about successful men were all apparent in these men. Just by watching them do their thing I learned hundreds of little lessons that have changed how I act in the world.

There is no replacement for being able to hold council with kings. If I could change one thing about my life so far I would have sought out kings sooner. I would have sought out a mentorship from a king regardless of how little I would have been paid. Or barring that I would've relocated to a land where kings roam freely.

I know that there are a few princesses, princes and queen out there who are not satisfied with your current state of affairs. If you want to become a king, seek council from other kings. Its more difficult to find such men in the US but they do exist.

Do this and your life will never be the same.
