Basically, he had some video of kids playing in the bath on his phone. You think if you were truly into kiddie porn, you would do a better job of hiding it.

So they literally arrested the guy and escorted him off the practice field in front of his team, accused him of having 'child pornography' on his phone and then jailed him. Turns out they were photos of his kids after a bath....

Meanwhile, my Canadian friends here were trying to tell me how bad Pussy Riot have it in Russia....

"Hoffner, 47, was escorted off the practice field in August 2012, then arrested and charged with child pornography after university staff found images of his naked children on a work-issued cellphone. But a judge dismissed the charges three months later, saying the videos depicted only innocent images of children acting playful after a bath.

His supporters said the school overreacted in the wake of the sex abuse scandal at Penn State, noting his high-profile arrest came just months after retired Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was convicted of child sex abuse.

"Two years ago I sat in a jail cell overnight in an orange jumpsuit wondering why. First there was shock, then there was fear, then there was anger and ... I pulled myself together," Hoffner said Tuesday. "We had unwavering support from a lot of people."

Although the charges were dismissed, the school suspended Hoffner for 20 days and then reassigned him to an administrative role before firing him last May."

Yep. IDK if going back there is such a great idea. Hate to perpetuate the modern day legal situation, but this guy should be lawyered up to his eyeballs and suing the shit out of the school.

Not sure if you're seriously calling that woman's lawsuit frivolous? If you really are though, I would watch the HBO documentary "Hot Coffee" before you attack her character. There's a lot more to the story.

I concur with YossariansRight though, no way in hell I would go back to that school.

There is one lesson to be learned from all this. Be careful when you have someone do work on your cell phone. That was how this all started. He went to tech support, and they found the photos on his phone.

That completely sucks that his former/current team doesn't want to train for him. I wonder if it is due to the false allegations.

Another man's career potentially over (As I don't see him getting another coaching job at any school or Uni) even though he was innocent.

Just goes to show that mud sticks.

So by association some pencil neck jobsworth with a moral compass out of whack can condemn a man for having pictures and videos of children who for the most part are enjoying bath time?

The only reason the coach was condemned was probably due to the series of stories about coaches molesting children under their care.


I've read up on a story not long ago where a man was out in the park with his children. A troupe of mothers phoned the police because they thought he was a pedophile.

This fits in here.. AD and head coach of my states university was fired for defending a player on a false rape charge that he was acquitted of. The player used her for sex and she wanted a relationship so she called rape. No apology or anything by the president

Even if they weren't his kids, having images of a naked kid not engaging in sexual acts is child pornography?

Not that I have any strong desire for pictures of naked children, but to criminalize having pictures of something as innocuous and natural as a naked baby is utterly insane. And it criminalizes virtually everyone. It's just another way the powers that be can pile up bullshit felonies to charge you with whenever it feels like it.

Speaking of school coaches being fired, the most remarkable one pertaining to people I know was on the occasion of a teacher proposing a threesome with two other teachers. Fired for that one offensive of "sexual harassment".
