Good things to see in Europe
I know it sounds like an odd question given the forum but I am looking for far-flung, provoking or mind-blowing stuff in Europe to see. I have seen all of Italy, most of Greece, France and some other countries

I am thinking of stuff like castles, beautiful scenery and historically important places

So far I have in mind

Prague
Budapest
Berlin
Forests of Bulgaria
Rural Macedonia
Vienna
Bosnia

Budapest is a must see place for the architecture and cool places. In the summer there is a lot going on.
Prague is also nice but I hate seeing too many tourists.

In Vienna: Go see the old walls of the city. Find somebody to show you where the siege of vienna took place. very important event in european history.

Macedonia: See the town where Alexander the Great was born.

RE: Good things to see in Europe
Europe has so many great places it's hard to narrow it down. Nonetheless, here's my shot at it:

Beautiful cities in general:
Lisbon, Portugal (pictured)
Budapest, Hungary
Valencia, Spain
Vienna, Austria
Poznan, Poland

Castles.
If you're into castles, Germany is a good place to explore. E.g. Neuschwastein Castle:

Other gorgeous places:
Cinque Terre, Italy
[Image: Manarola-a-small-town-in-Cinque-Terre-Italy.jpg]

Santorini, Greece

If you're into hiking and 'lakes & mountains' scenery:
Switzerland and Austria would be hard to beat.

Beaches: lots of options on the Mediterranean.

Culture: some of the best museums, arts galleries, opera houses are in Europe (e.g. in Paris, London, Milan). Too many to list here and very much taste-dependent.

For more unusual scenery:
Head to Iceland. You can also see where the north american and eurasian plates come together in a national park there. Plus there's stuff like hot river springs and lagoons.

For a great drive:
Transfagarian road in Romania

If you're after a place with a rich history/backstory:

Istanbul, Turkey

Nicosia, Cyprus
Politics aside, the island is divided into the 'Cypriot' part and the 'Turkish' part. Nicosia is a divided capital, the UN buffer zone runs through the city.

Tiraspol, Transnistria
Breakaway territory from Moldova. It's like a country 'frozen' in time since the Soviet days. Officially this place doesn't exist (it wouldn't usually be shown on maps as it's not recognized as a country). Be prepared to pay bribes here for bullshit reasons and other hassle.

Chernobyl, Ukraine
I think you can still go visit the reactor area and the nearby abandoned town of Pripyat (pictured) on a tour.

RE: Good things to see in Europe
Not everyone travels just for the women. Some of us travel cause e we wanna see the pictures of the world.

That being said. I've done lots of "tourist" things
Germany is full of castles.
Black Forrest.
You could spend days going down the rein rover and see castles built in the 19th venture to look like they came from the midle ages.
The romantic architecture style is. Everywhere.
You could make it to the German harz mountains also.

France
You could do the girl advnenture and go to Paris. I didn't like the city much but you can't doubt there isn't enough culture in that. City from the top of the economy Eiffel tower down to the underground catacombs.

If you're an American history buff, you can make it out to the Normandy beaches pretty cheaply and spend hours walking the same paths as the soldiers on d day.

Czech republic has more than Prague.
You can easily take a trip off to rural picturesque Czech.
There's a city called kunta hora about an hour outside the city with a abandoned mega church and a church with thousands of skulls and bones stack.
Stepping off the train it looks like a a scene from.walking dead.

You could go on forever finding history around Europe.
What you could do. Is pick a couple counties you really want to go. And go through the wikitravel pages for the countries and cities.

Or Wikipedia the UNESCO heritage sights and narrow it down by country.
You're bound to find some awesome stuff there

I am the cock carousel

RE: Good things to see in Europe
In terms of sight-seeing, Athens was one of the best places I've been to. The city itself is run down, but the ancient ruins are awesome. The Temple of Zeus was badass, and so was the Temple of Poseidon (it's about a 90-120 minute drive from Athens, but it's worth it if you have the time).

In terms of landscapes, Iceland was the most beautiful place I've seen. Also if you go to the north of Norway to Lofoten. Lofoten is in the arctic circle. It's absolutely incredible up there. If you want to see some real fjords you should head to Lofoten, rent a car, and drive to Reine (Google search "Reine"). That place is picturesque, and you can also do some GREAT hiking and rock climbing. Just be careful in the mountains out there.. I almost got myself killed from doing some wreckless shit. Be sure to bring some extra money if you go anywhere in Norway.. Totally worth it though.

Even if you haven’t read that famous book about the Tuscan sun, no doubt you’ve got an image in your mind of the Tuscan countryside – and, as lovely as the city is, a few days in Florence won’t quite give you the countryside experience you might be craving.
