I'm an atheist - but I do find religious discussions to be interesting.

Since it informs so much of culture and history - plus there is something exciting about people coming to the opposite and contradictory explanations when trying to answer the biggest questions of all.

Anyway - I just stumbled across this fun 9 minute long clip. It is a Muslim scholar answering a question from a Christian about the divinity of Jesus.

Christians say Jesus was the son of God - Muslims say he was just an ordinary human being (who happened also to be a messenger of God).

Anyway - it is a fun watch. I can't believe how knowledgeable these Muslim scholars are - he seems to have memorized the old testament, the new testament and the koran.

And he gives such a convincing answer - that the Christian guy ends up converting to Islam (as shown at the end of the video).

It could be a set up - but it seems convincing.

Either way - it is interesting hear an expert Muslim scholar speak in such a knowledgeable way about such a contentious issue. I love nothing more than seeing smart people speak off the top of their head in this way. It is the highest form of intellectual combat.

PS Not wanting to start a flame war here. And besides I don't think there will be many Muslims on this forum to get involved in one. I just have an odd taste in entertainment that I feel like sharing from time to time.

Interesting debate. Looks fake, but I have a copy of the Kuran on my bookshelf. I'll read it after I finish reading the Bible.

When it comes to theology, it pays to know ALL sides of the religious debate. Spiritualism takes forms in many different ways.

Cardguy: Are you familiar with Douglas Murray? He was an Anglican, but after investigating fundamentalist Islam, he lost his Christian faith. Interestingly though, he describes himself as still being culturally Anglican, even if not spiritually/religiously.

Yes religious debate can be quite interesting. I was amazed how jews and tibetian monks debated. It is intellectually stimulating. In Islam there is not much intellectuality though sometimes it masks itself as such.

Haven't watched but seriously?

I have read the quran and its fairly obvious that this "prophet" muhammed just got up one morning and said "fuck this, I can do what jesus did, its easy".
He walks into a cave, waits around, walks out and say "I just spoke to god and he told me to be his messenger".
Then he spent the rest of his life making up his religion and rules as he goes along killing anyone that calls bullshit. That is until his 9 year old wife was sick of his shit and poisoned him.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell.
