Photo study of Lithuanian discos
Quote:Andrew Miksys Documents Eastern Europe’s Depressing Youth Discos

Completely funded by a genius campaign on Kickstarter, Lithuanian-American photographer Andrew Miksys spent a large chunk of time travelling to some of Lithuania’s most run down and dilapidated buildings. Previously used as warehouses for the old soviet war machine, many of these buildings have now been converted into party venues by local governments or owners.

There is just something really depressing about a teen disco in a disused Russian bunker…

Luckily, Andrew was successful in raising the money he needed and he made the trip so that you don’t have to. The end result is a touching collection of images that say a lot about youth, love and isolation in Eastern Europe as well as the broken and empty nature of the subject’s lives.

I don't really like the tone of the writing ("isolation in Eastern Europe and broken and empty nature of the subject’s lives" - let's not pretend your average Western youth lives a life of great depth and meaning) but I thought some of you might be interested.

Edit: looks like this might be a dupe. Sorry

The original thread is less than a year old, it's not exactly ancient...
