Saw this on /r/theredpill and just thought it was absolutely ridiculous. Apparently stopping and talking to a woman on the street should be classified as sexual harassment! I bet 99% of the signatures are from whales who are jealous because they've never been hit on before.

Come on, Simple Pickup isn't street game, it's street performing.

Also, there's a huge burden of proof in any criminal case. Do these people REALLY think that they can take someone to court for approaching them on the street and win? Maybe if you constantly video people, which is a felony in some states without permission.

I suspect that sexual harassment became more of an issue when women started delaying marriage beyond their late teens.

If a woman gets married at 18, then for most of her adult life, her wedding ring (and/or her title as "Mrs.") should be sending a signal to other men, "I'm already taken, so don't hit on me."* In a society where it's expected and desired that women marry young, if there's a woman sitting on a park bench reading, it's assumed that either (1) she's unmarried and wants to be hit on; or (2) she's married and therefore if you hit on her, you'll be shamed, or her husband will kick your ass, or there'll be some other negative consequence.

In the modern world, it's common practice for women to ride the carousel for many years. Therefore, there are going to be a lot of unmarried women walking around who maybe want to get hit on, and maybe don't. Even if she has a boyfriend, who's to say she's not open to trading up to someone better? So there's more ambiguity.

In the past, it was assumed that a working woman wanted to get married fairly quickly, so she could quit her job and have five kids, rather than pursue her career for years. The boss would need to have "honorable intentions," i.e. be willing to marry her, if he wanted to have a sexual relationship with her for very long. The boss probably didn't have as many opportunities for casual sex, given the morals of society at the time, so he needed to marry some woman or another if he wanted a steady supply of sex.

It was a no-brainer that the secretary would probably WANT the boss to hit on her, and therefore it wouldn't be harassment. But these days, it's assumed that, since she has high career aspirations of her own, maybe the boss isn't good enough for her. Maybe she wants to stay in the workplace, rather than drop out to have babies, and therefore she needs to keep her work relationships impersonal.

If attractive women are riding the carousel, and only wanting to bang alphas, while at the same time society is telling betas that all they have to do is be a nice guy and girls will want them, that sounds like a recipe for women to get a lot of unwelcome advances from beta "nice guys." (Unless, of course, those betas are just going to orbit those women endlessly, waiting for the girl to make the first move. That's how we end up with Told You So! scenarios.)

*Unless those men are like Max Cady from the 1962 Cape Fear, and just hit on all attractive women regardless of wedding rings.

It's part of those campus rape surveys - buried about 40 pages in. It's one of the ways they inflate the sex crime statistics to push the fake "rape culture" narrative. The survey is the basis for the current and upcoming policies.

You usually won't be punished for it...yet. But it's the next wave coming.

Nothing to worry about if you are a normal person.

I remember a guy talking about getting kicked out of a mall by approaching girls. He was blaming the mall cop but im sure he either looks or acts creepy as fuck. No guys will admit they are creepy and blame girls (just like no girls will admit they are sluts)

Happened to me once in a nightclub in downtown L.A. way way back in the late 1990s. Walked up to a girl, smiled, and asked her if she wanted to dance. She looks at me and tells me to fuck off. I shrug and say 'hey, no reason to be rude'. Two minutes later I find my ass on the sidewalk after having been extracted by two bouncers.

This shit has been in the making a very long time now. Back in my days it fortunately was a rare exception but apparently it now is becoming the norm. Frankly I really don't envy you young bucks...

It's been 3 years since OP's concerns, and several countries have already implemented street harassment laws which is punishable by a fine of one week's equivalent salary (in Argentina), or a 12-year prison sentence (in Peru), or in the extreme form, punishable by death (proposed by man-hating feminists from India whose families live in million dollar mansions in the Greater Toronto Area/Vancouver/Calgary).

One issue with these street harassment laws it is used as a proxy for rape-related false accusations, because it is way easier to falsely accuse a man on the street of harassment than to make up a story of rape on someone, which requires the man to be very personal with the woman.

The largest issue is that these laws encourage feminazis to summon the militant police state to go after men.

Recently this weekend, the Trudeau Canadian government is enforcing a feminist foreign policy, which will of course force other countries to enforce feminist laws such as street harassment before receiving aid from Canada.
