Ray Ban Wayfarers...too played out?
I need some new shades, I misplaced my old no-name wayfarer knock offs. I was planning on actually picking up some new genuine ray ban wayfarers but starting to think they are played out.

I am in VT, so styles are a little behind here compared to NYC.

The problem is, I rarely find a pair of glasses that look good on my face, and I think the wayfarers look great.

I have been really working on my style lately, its simple, but I am really starting to like it. I usually rock a tight fitting solid color express t-shirt of v-neck, boot cut gap jeans, and some nice rockland leather boots.

I need some advice before I drop $140 on a pair of glasses that make me look like a behind the times dousche.

Found lots of threads mentioning wayfarers on here, but no real conclusive thoughts.

Here is a recent pic of me with said glasses, any suggestions?

Wayfarers are considered classics, it's a safe choice when you don't know much about fashion and eyewear.

If you're into hipster trends, round sunglasses a'la John Lennon are all the rage.

I own one pair of them for the laughs.

Otherwise, I would have to agree that wayfarers are classic. Can't really go wrong with them. They suit almost everyone.

The Wayfarers are good, but I'd lose the chain wallet.

hmm, its one of those things I have worn forever. I also have stainless earrings in each ear (cant see in the picture). Have considered loosing both, but not sure. I have had success with girls wearing both of these items, but it might be time to ditch them. Its like giving up a part of yourself, if that makes sense. Had both for 15 years.

I had a pair that I loved - metallic finish with purple tint. Collapsible too. Best glasses Ive ever owned.

Unfortunately some shit stole them while I was out surfing.

I would definetly recommend them. The collapsible models are super handy too and look slick. Girls love em.

I have a hard time finding glasses and hats that look good on me so I could care less about if something isnt "in" if it looks good Ill rock it. Im not big on spending big bucks on sunglasses though. I tend to lose them or acratch them so a 10 dollar pair of lookalikes work for me.

What do you people think of square glasses a'la Karl Lagerfeld?
But I think this only works if you have the same sharp chin and jaw like the Kaiser does, lols.

I've given up on sunglasses. I've spent +£1k on Ray-bans and lost every pair.

Jumped off the Luxottica train and never looked back.

Best idea is try them on in a store and ask the opinion of someone who has little to gain from their purchase.

You seem to have an oval face...also the color and contrast are elements to consider.

Wayfarers have that 80s preppie look, but that might be perfect for you.

If you don't like anything in the store, you could try Warby Parker or go with American Optical for their Aviators.

I don't like how they look on you, could be the angle.
Not played out, perhaps you should try a different brand like Persols.
Do you really want to look like Tom Cruise in Risky Business.

That's like asking if a black suit and white shirt are behind the times. Some things never go out of style.

I love my black wayfarers. They're timeless.
If you want to be a bit more modern and hip look into some Ray Ban Clubmaster's

No they're awesome.

But if you want a neutral classic then go with aviators. Try clubmasters even.

Wayfarers have been in style for a long time and will stay in style for a long time. I just got a pair with white rims and rainbow reflective lenses. They are 10/10 on the douchey scale but that's what I'm going for so whatever.
