She was brought up in a fucked up family. Her siblings are junkies and bullies often in trouble with the law.
Supposedly as kid she would wait up scared watching the road looking out for when her heroin addict older brother would return safe.
The tabloids sought out her ex boyfriends when she became famous and they tended to be much older and uglier junkies that she got into nurturing co-dependent relationships with.

She became nationally famous for being a hot girl with possibly one of the best asses in the country in a band of other talentless but also hot girls.

I'm convinced there was some weirdness going on in her early life. Wouldn't be surprised if someone out of her family, family-friends, relatives had tried to help themselves to her blossoming body when she was way too young.

From that perspective the ridiculous ass tattoo strikes me as some kind of psycho drama.

In the comic book Halo Jones the eponymous title character is a pretty young woman who is depressed at the death of her best friend.
She cuts off all her hair with a knife.
A soldier asks her why she would do something like that?
Halo replies: "Because I wanted to do something dumb.. and ugly.. and stupid... that okay with you?"

The Ass tattoo is a defiant unscious gesture where she knows everybody is always staring at it and assessing her worth trying to get with her on account of it and defiantly she goes and does something dumb.. and ugly.. and stupid.. to it.

She may not agree with the above reading of her actions but I wouldn't believe any story from her about how its 'beautiful/spiritual/symbolic/in-any-way-a-good-idea' for a second.

A waste of what was a great ass.
