Cathay Pacific Airways today announced a very special fare promotion for the Hong Kong public as it celebrates being named “World’s Best Airline” in the 2014 Skytrax World Airline Awards.

This was the fourth time the airline has received the top Skytrax honour - the only airline to achieve such a feat! To mark the milestone it is offering some amazing “fanfares” deals beginning from 8am on Tuesday, 26 August 2014.

To celebrate the 2014 award, Cathay Pacific is offering 2,014 return tickets to 11 destinations travelling in either Business Class or Premium Economy Class. The fare for each ticket is just HK$100!* The destinations on offer are as follows:

Business Class: Bangkok, Cebu, Kuala Lumpur, Nagoya, Osaka, Taipei

Premium Economy: Chicago, London, Maldives, New York (Newark), Sydney

Each customer can book a maximum of two return tickets per transaction. The offer will be available from 8am on 26 August only at the “fanfares” website: http://www.cathaypacific.com/fanfares

Starting tomorrow (Tuesday, 19 August) at 8am, customers can visit the “fanfares” website to find details of the terms and conditions of next week’s special offers and get ready for when booking begins on 26 August. To get first-hand information about “fanfares”, customers can subscribe to the airline’s e-newsletter at http://www.cathaypacific.com/cxpecials.

“fanfares” was first launched in October 2012 and has been offering highly attractive Economy Class ticket fares from Hong Kong to 11 destinations each week, from 8am every Tuesday. Since its launch, “fanfares” has covered a total of 73 destinations in 28 countries across the extensive Cathay Pacific and Dragonair networks. The weekly offers have received an overwhelming response with more than 12 million visits to the “fanfares” website and over 270,000 sectors sold to date.

Judging from my experience studying at a HK university and witnessing things such as selecting courses and tutorial timeslots online, I can guarantee that at 7:56 the website will go down and it will come back online at 9:00 with all tickets gone.

Some fares were released Tuesday this week and some of them are still valid.

One big drawback, at least on the deals released this week, is that you have to stay at the destination exactly a certain amount of days. The amount of days seem to depend on the destination.

Lemme check this out, see what people are saying on Expert Flier, and come back to you all. Thing is I need to be in Bangkok on the 28th. Biz class is extra tier points for me (going gold on BAEC this year)

Bought a ticket from Tokyo to Manila with them a few weeks ago for just under $180. The stopover in HK for a few days was thrown in at no extra cost, which I thought was a great deal.

Checked this fare out - here are the term and conditions - need to have your AsiaMiles registered to a HK address (probably not that hard to work around, and flyer talk (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cathay-pa...st23398978) says they don't check. You can have a look through the thread for more information on this special once-a-year edition of FanFares.

Is this going to be like buying an iPhone during the week after its released?

I was able to get the payment page, but the dates for NYC weren't confirmed by my work, so I didn't book. All destination were still available as of 8:15 AM HK time. Cebu from HKG looked tasty, as did Osaka (and BKK, though I'm going this weekend), but I didn't bite.

Actually Sam, I didn't as the NYC dates didn't work for my work obligations, these are only 1 week stays and my trips to the USA require more than a week typically (not much more). Cebu would have just been a spec buy, but I decided to pass on it. I've got a ton of upcoming travel coming (BKK and the USA (twice in USA) in the next 6 weeks as well as Argentina it looks like) so I didn't go for yet another bang trip to the Phils (though I kind of want to).

^^ Apologies this should have read 180 British pounds. Still was very good value in my book.

Did you have a non Chinese (inc. Macau and Hong kong) ip number?

I also tried at exactly at 8 but got the same type of screen as yours. Didn't have a Chinese ip number. Global entry did and got through to the payment section twice. Anyone else tried?
