Beach town about 2 hours outside of Rio. I'm staying there for October. My portuguese is ok. Any tips or inside information from people that have been to this beach town? Looks like the beaches are beautiful, but how are the women?

I know some Rio de Janeiro city folks have vacation homes out there. It tends to be the more quiet type whereas Buzios (not too far off) is the more happenin party place.

Haven't been to either...but that's the general reputation. Every now and then...certain party promoters will have VIP type events in say Angra dos Reis/Ilha Grande that are more of the exclusive types that require an "in."

I'd say enjoy Cabo Frio briefly for the tranquil atmosphere while chasing women elsewhere such as in a bigger all encompassing city.

If money is not a problem, Buzios is certainly a better pick. If you're the cost/benefit guy, choose Arraial do Cabo, just a few kilometers away, with one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole country (certainly better than Cabo Frio), walkable, pleasant... but with few girls.

Actually, if it's not Summer yet, you won't find a whole bunch of people in either of these places (Buzios being the surest shot).

I'm not a Brazilian, but I've been to Rio state and traveled extensively in it. Been to Cabo Frio. It's great! Go there. If you need tour recommendations or more specific, up-to-date info, I'd recommend contacting my friend Raf Kiss on Twitter. He's a Belgian expat who lives there and runs tours.

What time of the year were you there? I'm going in October, which is pretty much smack dab in the middle of Brazilian Spring.
