Depressed/Mysterious Game
Over the past couple of years I've had many bad things happen to me. Some due to being a beta, others due to just being at the wrong at the wrong time. This led me to being depressed for quite some time. Through change in lifestyle, environment, and lifting I am able to fight this depression off.

Now I've noticed that some women pick up on this and have often become intrigued in how I got to be the way I am (distant, cynical, angry towards the opposite sex, etc.) and I have modified my frame to be a mysterious villian who was only that way over the lost of a love a long time ago.

Women eat this up and they love being enveloped in my dark world. Throw in that I play piano and they think I'm a real life Edward Scissorhands.

BUT this only seems to attract non-LTR type women. Or maybe I'm kidding myself.

Have any of you tried this frame? Am I kidding myself? Why is upper chest so hard to work out?

It's a hook, but it's not bait.

I.E. it's not likely some chick is going to see you and think, "Oh he's depressed..."

More like you're in the spot light, you show some alpha qualities, she meets you, standard game, and then her "nurse" impulses kick in when she uncovers your "darkness"

Tortured Soul, Artist etc...

This is called sympathy game.

It can work on occasion but it's not a long-term solution nor is it personally healthy for YOU as a man.

True. I guess I am tempted to fall into this frame because sadness is addicting and hard to let go of. I am not this way at work or around my family. I try to be strong and happy for them.

Right. But its good for making the experience more pleasant with women. Instead of trying to test your masculinity constantly and being a cunt it is more LIKELY she will be more nurturing. Works sometimes.

That's a dangerous game because as you just mentioned it gets harder and harder to get out of it.

Please don't rely on this as your baseline game.

Unless you're wolverine don't bother.

some may be intrigued at the start, but women stew and whine enough as it is. they need someone to lead them not to wallow with them.

Will not.

Why would you retort "Will not"? How old are you (seriously)?
If you ask other forum members for advice, I would suggest that you refrain from being defensive when they take the time to address your problem earnestly.

It's good to work with your natural vibe, and if you mean that you're coming off as a artistic Jim Morrison type, fine, go for it.

Instead of romanticizing depression, seek ways to turn that around for the sake of your own life. It will be far more productive than to rationalize it as a crutch for "game" or anything else.

You can also totally be an artist or mysterious guy WITHOUT being depressed.

Take it easy. Pretty sure he meant that as he will not rely on that type of game exclusively.

I ran some serious tortured artist game a few years ago.

Fuck, I don't ever want to go back to that.

I like to run broken dreams game now when I'm alone with a girl, but that's because it's a cool contrast from my baseline.

RE: Depressed/Mysterious Game
Op, I had a shitty childhood growing up (dysfunctional family, health problems, bullied a lot) and I channeled all my rage and frustration into lifting.

I'm no stranger to cynicism, and til this day I make it a point to "screen" the people in my life thoroughly.

I digress.

My take on this:-

The reason why non-ltr women find you intriguing is because most guys they go out with are not cynical; in fact, they barely exhibit any form of cynicism. This alone gives you that "exotic" factor.

On another note: watch the episode of fairly odd parents where timmy turner wishes that he had no emotions. He gets the bitch he's had oneitis for, but eventually loses her. (Can't link the vid on my mobile)

RE: Depressed/Mysterious Game
This is how I got any girl interested in me in my late teens-early 20s. it wasn't an act, I was legit depressed and full of anger at the time, a lot of the time. Be careful with it. As people have mentioned it can make a good lure(especially when, you're a goth/metalhead guy like me, with "tall dark and handsome" aesthetics, that shit is like crack to alt chicks), but you won't hold them for long. Noone likes a Negative Nancy, do they? You can be mysterious without being depressive.

RE: Depressed/Mysterious Game
When you say women 'eat it up', has your strategy got you laid?

I'm very skeptical that a frame you describe as cynical and angry towards the opposite sex would be helpful to either you, personally, or to your sex life.

Although I will say that I've seen very extroverted guys who smile and talk a lot get laid.

But I almost never smile (unless I just genuinely feel like it) and I've had girls tell me that this got them curious.

In the end though, it's all about results.

No use walking around all morose if you aren't reaping definite rewards.

RE: Depressed/Mysterious Game
I was like that once in my life. I was basically eminem Amuse . My story [true story bro] was that one girl fucked me over hard and I was not smart and immature enough to handle it like a man so I was super butthurt and angry/pissed at all women in general. I was beyond typical asshole level. I was flipping the bird at girls numerous times, saying they ain't shit, wasn't involved in social circle drama telling girls "i don't give a fuck about that retarded problems" or when I called a girl and she told me "yeah we could have some guy here with us" I responded "some guy? i'm sure there are plenty of SOME faggots in your neighborhood, call them and fuck off", etc etc.

The other thing was that I've always been artistic soul so to speak. Very often thinking about abstract shit. Very interested in music from production angle like who made what song, how they did it, who played xyz instrument, who produced it, who wrote lyrics, why they wrote it like they wrote it etc.. so I think that huge passion of mine framed me in a certain way. I could [still can] talk to a girl about some ridiculous pop song for hours and get excited about little details like how one sound fits the moment adding to the vibe etc etc. I was also writing lyrics and making music using software and even with stuff I could put my hands on when I was out. This definitely was the bright side that leveled all that broken hearted dick vibe I was giving off. It didn't even matter that I didn't have a band or any local fame or anything, just expressing that passion [or drive] was enough.

Another thing is that I was so down during that time that I wasn't even trying to chase girls. When we were going to parties I approached girls just wanting to check how far I can take it so for the most part I was making fun of them and fucking around for my own amusement saying stuff I didn't mean etc. When we were hanging out I was usually pushing them away, saying NO a lot, leaving out of nowhere as everybody stayed until the end, calling them out on their bullshit, criticizing them when they did something stupid, saying "you won't understand it", etc. Turned out it all made them chase me to try and figure me out as I was some sort of a puzzle. I was unpredictable and out of control.

Most importantly the whole story was congruent. There was a legit reason for my actions and behavior and girls knew that. That's why it "worked". They understood me even they didn't like me at all. On the other hand if I walking around acting like a chode being depressed and expecting girls to get curious and fuck me would do nothing.

So the point is your story have to reveal your good sides or just something that will make you interesting person. It all have to click so that all that depressed/mysterious vibe of yours can make sense to others. That's what I think.
