I'm currently developing a physical product in what is a niche market.

Within the niche market there are pages on Instagram that have anywhere from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of followers that post pics every day, some sell products and some serve to market other products.

I am looking to do to things:
1. Approach some of the page owners to run marketing through their pages.

Does anyone have experience with this? Is it best to pay per like, run some sort of give away to collect email addresses, or to set up an affiliate scheme of sorts to reward the owners for each of their followers who buy from me?

2. Furthermore I'm thinking that given I'm about 2-3 months from launching my product on a large scale, in the mean time I should start up some facebook and instagram pages which I can later use as 'funnels'. Does anyone have experience building pages with huge follow counts?

Look up Shredz, its a crappy supplement that hired a couple gym rats to pose on their instagram and went viral.

You can hire growth hacking firms to do this if you don't know how to add followers yourself or are busy with other things.

Yes, approach other page owners to market. You'll probably get a lot of nos and prices that are too high for you, but whats the harm in a little bit of rejection, eh?

You'll learn a lot too: especially that many people grossly over-value how much a person blogging about your brand is because the recognition doesn't convert to brand sales. But on the flip side you'll bump into someone who is a huge influencer who is a real steal & deserves to be paid more.

Followers mean nothing...unless they are receiving your emails or actively visiting your salespages.

What you want is steady, reliable traffic to build your lists and launch your promotions.

You can advertise on Facebook, setup your funnels and drive traffic without dealing
with all the run around.

According to MikeCF, Facebook doesn't drive traffic at all, he believes twitter is the best way to get traffic. I agree because of the way twitter for example allows you to view links within the app on mobile, whilst facebook redirects you sometimes to the browser (so I tend not to click on links there)

Hmm interesting but I think experiences may vary between the publisher of a site like D&P (articles and information products) and a site that is a sales page for a physical product.

basically you pay someone famous on instagram to post a picture and he tells all his followers to go follow you. From what ive read sometimes its worth it and other times its not

Going the blackhat way is unfortunately a surefire fast way to destroy your own business or to destroy your own reputation pretty fast.
