I did a forum search on birthday gifts, but the only threads that showed up were about buying birthday gifts for a girl that you didn't bang yet.

My situation is a bit different: I'm banging this girl for over a year, and we are in an LTR since at least 6 months. I didn't buy her a present for her birthday last year, for Christmas or for Valentines day. For my birthday she gave me a personal, quite expensive, present and she cooked for me.

Avoid "things" gifts. The best kind of gift is an experience gift. Doing something. Even if you're on a budget, you can go to places where you create an experience she will always remember. If money is an issue, and it sounds like it is, consider taking her somewhere scenic and have a little picnic. Buy an easel and some cheap paints and paint the outdoors together. If she's worth making into an LTR, just get her something that will impress her. You can do that once a year and not lose frame.

The rules of game are mostly about not over-investing in random chicks that aren't worth it. But if you got into an LTR with her, you did that because it's what you wanted. I agree, I don't think I've ever bought a women a gift thats an item, my gifts are always concert tickets, a meal out at a cool restaurant like a gastropub type place, maybe a trip if its someone I've been dating for a longtime. I figure that way half the gift is a gift for myself, plus all the things menace mentioned are all things I liked about this gift. There's a guy who makes knockoff sybians, I think his website is DIY sybian or something like that and he also sells on ebay in the adult section. The things get pretty good reviews. Thank you. I guess I needed to hear this from a more experienced guy before I accepted it and stopped being lazy. This is the reason I never bought a sex toy for a girl.
