I was having a good conversation earlier today with a friend who has a sibling that is textbook RVF bad relationship material. Good looking, still young, fake boobs, mentally unhinged but not enough to be blatant, extremely unreliable and dependent.

This girl however, is hitting relationship marks at a fast enough speed that the person she is with is not going to see the mess they are in until it is much too late. (PS, when i say 'person' shes a recent lesbian convert). It is like move in, boom, engaged, boom, get married, boom.

I call these events, Honeymoon extenders, if you have ever played a racing video game where if you can just get to the next check point your time to play is extended, this is exactly it. You live another day before your shortcomings are truly exposed.

In any exclusive LTR relationship I think its got about 4-6 months where the honeymoon phase is carried just on by it being new and the sex being good. Under this circumstance a person's true personality is not revealed...they can get by on just being pretty and bedroom pornstar for these 4-6 months. To extend that phase past that any of the following needs to happen.

• Moving in together
• Tropical vacation
• Buying a dog
  

Once those items are complete a person needs to hit some more serious relationship extenders to conceal potential personality flaws that would cause an outsider to reject them for a personal relationship. The bigger honeymoon extenders are

• Having a kid
• getting engaged
• getting married
• buying a house together
  

Notice that getting engaged and getting married are two separate items. A basic bitches excitement at getting engaged seems to be just as high as getting married for some reason.

These honeymoon extenders are dangerous, especially in the hands of a master manipulator (man or woman). Once they see the other person starting to pick up, or question their bad traits they will rush to a hit a honeymoon extender to 'mask' their bullshit coming to light. They are also dangerous in the hands of the blue pill pussy that they will use a honeymoon extender to avoid shit in hopes that "if we get married, maybe she'll be less of a bitch or stop partying"

Without a honeymoon extender, a person will enter a "real" LTR in which they will be exposed to the complete picture of a person's burps, farts, faults and other unpleasant personality traits...which should be the real basis for evaluating relationship material.

I've also seen this explained as "hitting fast foward instead of ejecting"

Is this a legitimate theory? Are there any other Honeymoon extenders? Can the tropical vacation Honeymoon extender be used by players to placate bitches that want commitment?

It is a very legit theory, after all we have all seen the 3 year engagement/handcuffing plans instituted until he/she gets out of the service, finishes school, or escapes prison etc

Problem I see is that these things only stall the inevitable; guys who placate with engagements to "shut her up" only end up investing more into a situation that they really don't want or are uncertain of. Instead of hitting the brakes, they essentially accelerate since she will be expecting you to take the next logical step after her sugar buzz wears off

The baby honeymoon extender is arguably the # 1 method, but also the most irresponsible one for obvious reasons

For my buck, there's other more feasible ways for a player to extend a chick out than a tropical vacation; I think there's less elaborate ways to accomplish the same goal. Sometimes all that's needed is to be more mindful of her, doing other thoughtful things go a long way. After a while, a lot of players (due to abundance) simply lose their attention to detail

Granted I'm not looking to settle down right now and I get the feeling most other posters are in my shoes. That said LTR isn't some terrible thing, if you find the right chick and if your ready for it.

Look at the recent thread about Eva Mendez saying sweatpants are the number one leading cause of divorce. Some women realize just because you landed the guy doesn't mean you have to stop being sexy, doesn't mean you let your crazy come out,doesn't mean you don't cook or clean for the guy anymore, etc.

I have a couple buddies who landed good chicks who are at the gym for hours while we smoke blunts and play madden, who comes back and fixes us a snack, lets him go out and do his thing, etc. There are good girls out there, just fewer than most of us would like.

Eventually I'd like to settle down and to the LTR thing, have kids, etc though not for a few years. It's not some terrible thing once your ready for it and if you find a decent chick.

Good post Dr. Howard, I think you are spot on with your analysis, I think it's pretty well documented and I know from personal experience that the "honeymoon period" is a real thing in a relationship. I'm not the best example, because I've had bad luck or poor judgment with the girls I got into LTRs with and my longest has only been 10 months, but I noticed a distinctive trend in how things worked out.

The first 3-4 months were the honeymoon phase, everything was great, the sex was frequent and amazing, the girl I was with was putting me on the pedestal proclaiming how great I was and how much she loved me. After the first 3-4 months, the next 2-4 months things slowed down and kind of stagnated, then the last 2-3 months the relationship was on a definite downswing, the red flags and ugly personality traits and truths started coming out. Both myself and my exes at that point were starting to grow tired and weary of each other, until it's ultimate demise.

I've only had 2 LTRs, my first was probably the worst, she basically ruined my life at that time, and I had put up with so much B.S. and poor treatment, that it inevitably reached that point of no return where I had no other choice put to break the shackles and walk away. My last LTR which I documented on here, I'll admit that I was the one who was clinging onto the relationship, where she basically had mentally/emotionally "checked out", but played along that she was happy and still in love out of her own self benefit and protection, until wham bam she premeditated the break up and monkey branched and swung to a new cock (her plan B guy who I was unaware of.)

Anyhow I agree with your analysis, and I agree that people do tend to try to cling on in relationships with the hope of "making it work", and you outlined it pretty well. I will say that moving in together can be the kiss of death in a relationship. Whereas a couple may move in together to strengthen the relationship or to solidify it, often times it can have the opposite result. When you live together there is no where to hide, and often the things that a person swept under the rug, the little flaws that they kept hidden, are right there for your partner to see and experience. Plus women are masters at lying, deception, and manipulation, they will often continue this while living together, but it's hard being on your "game" 24/7 when you live with a person and see them all the time. It's inevitable that the red flags will surface.

4-6 months is quite accurately the general half-life of the 'lust' phase of a new relationship. It's the period where the person is new and exciting, you fuck each other 3 times a day, and want to spend all your time together. You ignore each other's flaws, partially because each of you are also consciously trying to hide them and impress the other party.

I agree, if I were able to rearrange my life I would have avoided honeymoon extenders until 9-12 months. Thats a pretty good time to see whats up with a person. It also works both ways, some chicks that seem 'ok' turn out to be great once they stop trying so hard to be coy or aloof.

I've thought about this before, but never made a post on it.

In terms of the gambits, basically doing more relationship/romantic investment is great for keeping the ball rolling.

Two problems
1) you might start believing it yourself
2) she believes it, and you're just going to have to deal with the fall out. Unless you're a sociopath (not that there's anything wrong with that), break a chick's heart is never fun.

How do you keep extend the lust part of the honeymoon, and keep the romance and emotional entanglement at bay?

Buying a dog together is a proxy for having a child.

This pretty much describes most relationships my friends are in at the moment. I think it has a lot to do with the culture and westernized society. Most women just see each bullet point as a way to get the most attention/likes.

If some of these people would analyze their relationship they would realize that its based off of a precarious foundation.

Good thread though, seriously. Cooking with a woman is a good way to build that relationship vibe, I've found. Cheaper than a vacation too. Other domestic type stuff as well, to a lesser extent like "I'm thinking about repainting my bathroom, what color do you think I should use?" The longer you string the commitment-seeking types along the harder the fall for them though, which I try to avoid personally.

... Or if you're a sociopath you can go the dark triad route to keep a girl strung along. Girls will always stick by a selfish, abusive, self-destructive, walking liability. Drama can keep girls coming after you once you have them fully netted in - though this is not something you can contrive really. To be "that guy" then you really have to be that guy.

Women will go back to guys like this time and time again. Not saying this is a healthy or beneficial way to keep a fire burning, but its definitely a situation that keeps many couples together for better or worse.
