Behind him, a woman at the counter sporting a pair of revealing booty shorts.

'There was something about this photo lu took ,that seemed worthy of instagram,' Michael noted of the shot, taken by his wife, Luisana Lopilato, 27.

The father-of-one followed that remark with a series of hashtags, in case it hadn't been clear what he was talking about: '#myhumps #babygotback #hungryshorts #onlyinmiami #picoftheday #beautifulbum'

But while the Haven't Met You Yet singer thought it was a harmless joke, plenty of followers on Instagram and Twitter took quite the offense to the photo.

Michael was bombarded with angry messages, such as one Twitter user who wrote: 'That's someone's daughter, dude.'

He has since responded to the controversy in a statement to UsWeekly, saying: 'I do not court controversy, but I realize that a photo that was meant to be complimentary and lighthearted has turned into a questionable issue.'

The Canadian star added: 'It hurts me deeply that anyone would think that I would disrespect women or be insulting to any human being... I regret that there are people out there who found the photo offensive.'

'That was not and is not my intention. Women are to be celebrated, loved, respected, honoured and revered. I've spent my life believing that and will continue to do so.'

It remains to be seen if the star's apology will be deemed acceptable by fans, such as one Twitter follower who called him out for not respecting the woman's privacy, noting: 'You made sure to get her permission before posting, right? And that she's not a minor? Way to keep it classy.'

However, they were not the only ones to hit at the performer's reputation, with another Twitter user commenting: 'yep. let's humiliate a stranger. Stay Classy, Buble.'

Despite the vitriol, Michael has continued sharing emphatic shots from his vacation, later posting a photo from his visit to Facebook and Instagram headquarters.

'Guess where I just visited ??? Nope not Disney...but my second favourite place in the world !! #facebook #instagram #headquarters #Miami #like #picoftheday' he wrote, along with an enthusiastic photo.

I think this is an aspect of this topic that we have a tendency to neglect. We may be giving too much credit to some of the people making these inane SJW arguments. Many of them may not actually have a coordinated plan or any decent understanding of the impact their actions might have on other people. Rather, some of these people probably really are just socially and romantically retarded. That's it - they make the inane arguments they do because they just lack the basic interpersonal intelligence necessary to see where they go wrong, and they don't have enough romantic experience/intuition to really understand how contrary their views are to normal human sexual relations.

What are the chances that this person simply hasn't had a lot of experience with normal people in the context of normal romantic interactions? What are the odds that she just hasn't been socialized well enough to understand the nuances of normal, healthy human sexual relationships and interaction? What if she isn't self-aware enough to realize this (probably the only thing that would allow her to make valid observations absent good socialization)?

She may have had plenty of sex with more than one boyfriend, but if those boyfriends and all those she interacted with were similarly disconnected from reality/poorly socialized, then that makes no difference - her poor socialization would only have been reinforced by her exclusive association with other poorly socialized people, and she'd still never have understood what constitutes normal, healthy socialization.

If all of the above is accurate in the case of this woman and those making similar critiques, then would you be at all surprised that such an individual could come out with an argument that stands so contrary to fundamental romantic realities?

Think about it. What else would they do? How can you make a critique in line with normal human socialization when you've never been socialized well? When you've been blinded from the start, how can you be expected to see properly later on?

I suspect that the issue we're dealing with here regarding these people is one that runs deeper than we think.
