You seem misguided, what makes you think people are going to listen to the perspective of an overly pessimistic and negatively minded simpleton? Maybe my threshold for shitholes and generally bad experiences is just higher than yours as I've actually been to a real shithole (i.e Haiti), but I can't even begin to think you could have had this bad of a trip without most of the problems being caused by you.

I stopped reading your posts awhile ago, so I don't know if you've travelled anywhere else in the world, but your threshold for tolerance of bad service and exploitative tourists practices just makes me laugh. I don't understand how you could plan to come to Latin America with perfect expectations as these things simply go without saying. If anyone thought coming to Latin America was "rainbows and unicorns" in all aspects of life than they are simply idiots, no question about it. Part of the fun (at least for me) about Latin America are the unique qwerks, potential dangers and uncertainties of this place.

The thing about tourist hustlers, scammers and robbers in Peru is that these people can see and sense the easy prey and something tells me that with your outstanding record you could be just that. I've been here much longer than you have and I have not once experienced a robbery, a real scam or anything that would match your hysterics. Sure I've had my own moments, yeah I've had bad service at restaurants, yeah I've had idiot taxistas, and even a close call with a "Pepera" once, but I've had no streak which would come close to your performances here. Maybe it's time for you to take a step back and assess how you are perceived on the street and how you negotiate with people day to day.

Hell this is even coming from someone who has slight ADHD and a lack of awareness at times. I literally walk around here with no fucks given and with my mind in the clouds at times and I still can't match you.

I think the lesson here for people is that you can't be a complete dimwit and come to Peru for several months and expect the same spoon-fed life day-in and day-out that you would back home in your western country. Most would have thought this to be obvious, but appearently we need to put the training wheels back on for y'all.

The ticket you bought which mind you is less than $40USD (130 soles) includes entrance to 15 tourist attractions in 10 days. If you don't want that many you can buy one that only includes 4 for $21USD (70 soles). If you ask me I think they are not charging enough. I bought the cheaper one the other day and went to one attraction and thought it was worth every penny. You went to 14 other attractions for $40 and you're complaining about not getting access to one of them? How much do you think a tourist attraction cost in Australia? Just to go on the Syndey Harbour bridge it cost about 10x as much as the cheap ticket in Peru.

There's no country on the planet you can go where everyone is going to treat you like royalty and the girls are going to line up to fuck you. You will be miserable everywhere you go if you don't learn to go with the flow and make the best of it.

Designate, I have been to 5 (including Peru) different countries (I am not counting Australia). New Zealand, one country in the middle east and two in asia and I never really experienced any of the problems I have in Peru, that combined with the generally good feedback on the forum about Peru led me to believe I would have a similar experience. I learned the hard way that Peru is not like a highly touristy country in Asia. Perhaps you have a point about my unrealistic expectations about Latin America. Chalk it up to my overly good (perhaps I was lucky?) experiences in Asia and my naivety.

After living in the Philippines for years, I can from experience, firmly state that Philippines is a zillion times better. For picking a permanent home, I would not pick Peru over Philippines in a million years. Lets compare ph and Peru and see who wins in each

Stores. The likes of SM and Gaisano, if 10 am is opening time, you wont be standing outside 10:04 am. In Peru, forget it. They open 16 minutes late if they feel like it!

Product price. I just finished comparing phones to how I remember in PH. Smart phones start from around 40 bucks in PH, Peru over 100 for the same. Razors? Over a buck a peice! PH a couple bucks for several in a pack at Gaisano grande. When I remembered the dirt cheap 2000 some peso androids all over the Philippines and looked at the shelf of overpriced bs in front of me in Peru, I got homesick and though "sucks to be from here". At least I can be living in the Philippines later on and leave behind the shithole where the prices have your eyes rolling.

product selection. PH wins too. SM malls are packed to the brim with gadgets stores in cyberzone. You are mesmorized by the range of laptops inside just a small SM and CHEAP! Peru? Just a lone "radioshack" store with a few tablets and netbooks nobody would want. You can bet the prices suck! No other options. I cant even get splash cologne. They dont have it here!If shopping gadgets (and almost everything) is paradise in PH, its a hell hole here.

Accomodation. Here you must push a buzzer. Entrance is always locked! PH its all freely open. People who work dont attend to you. Sometimes takes ages before someone unlocks the door. No wonder Peru has zero interest on this forum. Im saving to get on a flight to Santo Domingo. It may be temporary before I settle permanently in Philipines. Kinda sucks its Christmas, I might be stuck here longer by the elevated travel cost.
For any expats looking for a country thats nice to stay in, I strongly advise against Peru. Perfectly fine to visit, but just terrible for staying around and looking for somewhere to live.

Lots of fires in Miraflores buildings, and people all die because doors inexplicably lock only from the outside, and bad service means death, unlike in PH where you can easily escape from towering infernos.

I'm in Lima right now and I'm definitely enjoying my time here. It may not be for everyone, but I'm liking it. Around Miraflores the city is definitely cleaner, calmer and more organized than Colombia. That also makes me kinda miss and appreciate the unique chaos of Colombian cities though.

The weather here has been pretty awesome, especially compared to Bogota. It's just barely cold enough that you need a sweatshirt at night and it was really sunny and just a god damn perfect day on Saturday. The ceviche, seafood and quinoa dishes here are pretty awesome too and still relatively cheap if you're coming from USD for the quality you're getting. $10 for a big ass dish of ceviche at a nice restaurant is pretty awesome, in my opinion.

I also personally am pretty happy with the talent I see here. Girls aren't drop dead gorgeous like you see in Colombia but I'm still seeing attractive girls all over Miraflores during the day and also at night here and in Barranco as well. Nightlife has been pretty fun as well.

I just left Peru a few days ago. I just fucked my second Peruvian girl (two days in a row) a few days before I left. That brings my notch count in Peru up to 2 girls (both Peruvian, twice each) in 14 weeks. One girl in Cusco from online game and one girl in Lima from daygame. I should point out that I went there for sightseeing and doing outdoor activities, learning some introductory Spanish, etc. Running game was not my main aim and was only an incidental activity that I spent a modest amount of time on.

On the way back to Australia I had an 18 hour over layover in Santiago, Chile so I forked out the $117 USD reciprocity fee (its only payable for Australian and Mexican citizens (only $23 for Mexicans) to leave the airport and spend a day in the city. I saw some landmarks, walked around the city, caught some trains ate some local food and gamed some girls.

In the rich parts of Santiago the talent was equal to the rich parts of Lima and had many attractive girls in the 6-8 range. In general the city was very modern with good public (fast, cheap and plentiful trains) transport and quite clean but more expensive than Peru. In stark contrast to Peru which on average had the unfriendliest locals out of all the countries I have visited, Chile had the friendliest locals of any country I have ever been to. In general people were very polite, eye contact and smiling was not uncommon, people were helpful and even the attractive girls in the 7-8 range were very humble and feminine and appreciative of my approach.

Although one day is not ideal to form a judgement, in stark contrast to Peru I would recommend Chile as a top game destination. Attractive women were plentiful and reacted very gratefully to small gestures like complements and buying them coffee, etc. People on average were well educated, younger people often spoke some English and in general people were curious and open towards foreigners. I will definitely return to Chile as I got a great vibe from the place from my one day sneak preview.

Girls in Chile are much flakier than Peru. I was in Peru for about 3 weeks or so, got 2 cusco notches in 3 days and not even sure how many in Lima but a lot more than 3. In Chile I only got 3 in 8 days. The food in Chile is horrible compared to Lima. The girls are slightly more attractive but the flakiness makes it not matter. I always hear Colombians are the worst at flaking but I was flaked on 10x more in Chile. Chile also has the most unattractive muffled accents I've ever heard in South America. It's a nice city to visit but far from a top game destination.

With the sun comes the fun down in the South. Action is starting to heat up in the Sur with venues at Punta Hermosa opening up in mid-December. There and Asia will be in full swing for debauchery once mid-January/February hits.

Anyone have been to Cuzco recently and could provide an update?

I will be coming in 2 weeks for 5 days. My friend recommended me to stay in Loki or Wild Rover hostel claiming that both locations have a strong party vibe and horny chicks (Peruvians and foreigners). Anyone can vouch for it or knows hostels with guest-friendly policy?

My goals are to see Maccu Picchu, capture a Peruvian flag and probably do some seightseeing around Cuzco.

From what i saw, Loki has the craziest parties in Cusco and yeah there are horny gringo lovers and gringas. I would say quality is low with some exceptions, generally 4 to 6's drinking and taking Drugs as the world will end.

This is not my vibe, but seems that You are too focused in easy lays, then it is your best bet. About the sighteseeing, Try Valle Sagrado for full day, the last stop Is Ollantaytambo, there You can take the train to Aguas Calientes(Machu Picchu town), this will save you time.

It is low season(rainy time),I recommend Maras-Moray and maybe The South Valley, have a nice time.

With all this negativity about Peru, I would welcome some other perspectives about Lima. I had done my research and decided that Miraflores, an apartment overlooking the ocean, would be good for me.

If this is a troll it's a shame that one person can make other readers doubt their own decisions, but since it's a big investment in time/money/effort, it would really be cool to hear from guys living in that area. And also to give other members a more balanced perspective.

Yeah Nova that's what I was thinking until the whole "if there's a fire the whole fucking building will burn down with you in it". I read your posts as part of looking into the whole Lima thing instead of the more popular Columbia.

I'm torn between getting less than ideal hotel for a few nights and while I'm there on the ground actually looking at apartments. Because of the distance and flight cost, I may as well stay 2 months so I decided on that. If I'm staying that long I'd really prefer to be in a place that I like at the very least, and that doesn't cockblock me (e.g. weird front desk). Ideally it would overlook the ocean and have a hot tub.

Less than ideal would be Casa De Los Sanchez across from Parue Kennedy. The cheaper rooms are kind of dumpy but location-wise its' hard to beat.
EDIT: this is a hotel, not an aparement. You might be able to work out some kind of arrangement with them though.

No just the mention of apartment buildings being locked and needing to be buzzed in or out. Sometimes it can take a while for you to be able to get in or out (apparently).

I think I'd have to be friends with a girl or two on the ground so they would be able to get me a good deal, or even know the best places fitting my criteria. I think a place with a hot tub overlooking the ocean is going to be expensive enough without the gringo tax.

I've seen some places on airbnb that look decent, and urbania.pe doesn't seem that much cheaper, but there could be some kind of deal breaker if I book a month or even two in advance without seeing anything for myself. It could even come down to a door guy being a cockblock (even with tips) or the host living next door (annoying, intrusive and no parties allowed).

I went this weekend to the beaches south of Lima - Asia and Punta Hermosa.

We went to celebrate my friend's birthday in his friend’s vacation house in Asia. The place was awesome as well as the weather. Asia itself, however, not that much.

First of all everything is spread out, you need a car to go buy beers, go to the restaurant and more importantly to go to the Boulevard de Asia where the action is. From what I noticed, everyone gets there by taxi or car.

The quality in the clubs of Asia is probably the best in Peru. Creme de la creme from Lima goes there on summer weekends. Sometimes I felt as if I was in Europe with most of the people looking Caucasian and very few Asian and Mestizo. The bitch shields are high. Drinks were expensive.

The Peruvians explained me that there is no cover to enter but you have to be put on the list before entering and you have to pass through ‘filters’ with respect to age and face control.

‘Papito, es que todos nosotros, Peruanos de descendencia europea estamos acá… es una mierda super racista pero así es’

That sentence sums up the essence of the place.

Collected couple of numbers but nothing more than that.

I would not recommend this place unless you game and logistics are tight AF.

Second night we went to Punta Hermosa. I don't remember the name of the club but their entry policy was similar. Vibe was less posh, quality a tad lower but drinks were still expensive, one beer – 15 SOL, pisco sour – 25 sol. I did better here, collecting more number and making out once with cute Pocahontaz type of girl.

Better than Asia IMO and closer to Lima.
