I've started researching apartments in Barcelona to stay in for my next vacation and I've found several conveniently located "boat apartments" to rent at Port Olimpic.

I see some advantages like logistics and the adventure factor, but also some disadvantages like sleeping on a boat for a whole week. How is security on these places?

Has anyone here had an experience with these boat apartments and if yes, would you recommend it?

Not sure about Barcelona but in Amsterdam some of the best apartments with best logistics are one's on canal boats.

I have a 19 ft sailing license and sailed around North Carolina for a while. Most people I know don't associate sleeping boaters with having a lot of valuables. Whether or not this is the same in Barcelona I don't know. The worst experience I had occurred while docked at a pier that was frequented by partygoers and left a cooler on the deck. They took the beer while we were out on the beach. As long as your cabin locks you should be good. Not to mention always have a way to protect yourself. You can't prevent all criminals but the lesser ones can be intimidated/thwarted with counter measures such as locks and showing force when necessary.

Not really experienced in sleeping on boats but it should be mentioned that Barcelona is a world leader in petty theft.
