That one song that touches you deep within your soul
We've all been through it.

Bad shit happens , life gets you down or you're just sitting around contemplating it all with a glass of hard liquour and a cigarette.

What's the one song you listen to when you're in this type of mood and that inspires deep thoughts about life ?

I actually used a quote from this song in my ROK article today:





I recall an interview with ZZ Top where they were asked about the inspiration for the song. They said the lyrics were somewhat absurd -- something one might say after a shot of white lightning.

In any event, the ending guitar solo is perfect for what it is: an expression of deep-seated, masculine pain.

A musical version of a "historical drama." But you don't have to know or understand the history to be moved by it emotionally. Sometimes lives are turned upside down by circumstances beyond anyone's control, which can be sadder than what most songs are about, which is broken hearts.
