Yeah but 500k just for that..? Let's face it, if the patient was a woman there'd be a much more negative reception to this article.

With doctors like these, thank God for lawyers, right?

Thinking about that made me burst out laughing. .

Huh. I think I'm sort of in disagreement with this. Basically I'm just befuddled. Isn't this the type of thing that should end up in a bad Yelp review or something?

RE: Man wins $500,000 after recording female-led surgury team verbally abusing patiant
I'm with the doctors on this one. Reading the article carefully, it sure sounds like the patient in question was a patsy at best and a bona-fide faggot at worst. The conversation around the operating table sounded like the type of workplace banter you'd expect such an individual to engender among a for lack of a better word "redpill" crew.

I don't think litigation resulting in a $500,000 bill over what is basically rude words is something we ought to support.

You guys are defending a doctor that said she wanted to punch a patient in the face?

$500,000 is excessive, I agree.

However, you can be sure I would have reacted far worse then he did if this happened to me. When I was brought up, I was taught to never compromise my integrity, especially when it comes to how I earn my living. Talking about your patient's medical problems in an incompetent way WHILE THEY ARE INCAPACITATED in front of you is a compromise of your integrity.

I've never really thought of a surgery room as a place to openly banter in a red pill fashion. It's supposed to be a professional environment.

A group of doctors that are friends discussing it at a bar is different, obviously.

Imagine you run a landscaping business and you show up to a customer's house with one of your guys. The customer acts like a douchefag so when he's out of range you remark to your guy that you'd like to punch that motherfucker in the face as the two of you proceed to set up your equipment.

That's basically what happened here. If you wouldn't support a $500k punitive fine in the hypothetical landscaping scenario then you shouldn't support it in the doctor scenario, either. Anything else is just class envy.

I agree, this isn't el mech's car shop this is a medical practice and the person has put his health and life in these people's hands as 'medical professionals'.

I think there is a standard of "maintaining a patient's dignity" that exists in the medical profession that doesn't exist, or need to exist at burger king.

Quote:On the opening day of the trial last week, the gastroenterologist who performed the colonoscopy, Soloman Shah, 48, was dismissed from the case. Court documents state Shah also made some insulting remarks — “As long as it’s not Ebola, you’re okay,” Shah was recorded saying during the rash discussion — and did not discourage Ingham from her comments or actions, which included writing on the man’s chart that he had hemorrhoids, when he did not.

You guys ok with doctors willfully entering a fraudulent diagnosis on your chart? Hey RVFMember, you have cancer! Haha, just kidding. Cool?

We hold doctors to a higher standard than mechanics.

Just because the plaintiff is not sympathetic (he seemed squeamish; this is not a crime, I don't like looking at the needle going in for blood draws) doesn't mean he's a loser. Easy to be tough when it's not you.

If somebody in a supervisory position overheard you saying that in earshot of a client, or maybe even on the worksite at all, you'd be fired on the spot and rightly called a fucking moron.

Landscapers also don't make ungodly amounts of money to safeguard people's privacy and take their life and health into their hands. About the only analogy that could be drawn here is if a contractor hired to work on somebody's house remarked that they noticed lots of valuables around, and since the person annoyed them they're going to tell their criminal buddy about the unlocked side door. I guess since you're apparently such a staunch opponent of frivolous litigation you'd oppose a charge of conspiracy to commit robbery in that instance?

I won't comment on the amount of money involved here, but this is completely unacceptable and indefensible behavior for anyone in the medical industry under any circumstances. Should have had their licenses pulled.

I think you're trying a bit hard to be more red pill than thou here, dude.

The absolute logic defending the doctor is mind numbing, they falsified his records.

They're professionals, act like one. It's simple as that.

Oh but they're stressed, they're overworked, oh my !

Comes with the territory sweetie, can't handle the heat get the hell out the kitchen. Not to mention I'm sure they're sleeping fine knowing a fat paycheck is coming.

That's the problem. The insults are one thing, but entering false comments in permanent medical records because you don't like the guy is something else entirely.

My father works in the medical field and this recording is tame compared to the stories he's told me.

It wasn't that uncommon for surgeons to operate while intoxicated several decades ago and take funny pictures with incapacitated patients.

The Maximally Pathetic Schema: Xs who labor to convince Ys that “I’m not one of those despicable Zs!,” when in fact it is obvious to the meanest intelligence that the Ys see no difference between Xs and Zs, don’t care anyway, and would love to throw both Xs and Zs into a gulag.

I guess we're all just gonna be forgetting the that docs gave him a fake medical results of him having hemmorhoids, right?

Doctors in America are already basically a mafia racket with 0 transparency and 0 oversight, no need to also just let obviously fake diagnosises slip by

It kind of begs the question: what the fuck is wrong with doctors? I mean I worked as a bartender and saw my fair share of passed out/drunk people in the bar we could've taken advantage of, but at no point did I ever get the thought of somehow fucking with the guy. Apart from MAYBE one stray comment of "lol look at this guy, his mind is flying somewhere on the moon" there weren't any more comments said about such situations, usually we'd wake them up and escort them outside or call a cab for them after asking them or something. It really has to tell you something if not even bar staff want to be huge dicks as doctors and surgeons seem to be. Something about the fact that a person is incapacitated by drugs and completely helpless at your mercy seems to bring out the brave courageous shittalking bravado in some overcompensating people it seems

You didn't read it carefully enough:

You missed the part where they they they were giving him a false diagnosis of hemmoroids and the doctor insisted an assistant lie to him. It's rude words that could've cost this guy time, money and piece of mind.

So what if the guy is gay? That makes it ok for medical professional to just make shit up because they don't like him? Hopefully the parties involved have lost their jobs as it sounds.

Who gives a shit if he was a patsy? They shouldn't be talking shit when he's in the area. It's stupid. If they're going to do something as stupid as this in front of a patient, he deserves the money.

Actually, the scenario you described is not in the least bit analogous to what the doctors did. One is conspiring to commit a crime, the other is
the making of childlish insults. The amount of money the parties make is completely irrelevant as well. If somebody punches me in the face it doesn't matter if they're a billionaire or a bum.

With that said, obviously falsifying medical records by recording a fake diagnosis is a criminal act and if anything should be handled in a criminal case rather than a civil litigation. My comment was directed not at this particular detail but at the overarching theme of the story, namely some dude getting $500k because his feelings were hurt by mean words.

RE: Man wins $500,000 after recording female-led surgury team verbally abusing patiant
Lots of good points here. I like how this forums comments get you looking at the situation from all angles.

I think suing someone for mean words is a little bit of an American phenomenon. That being said there needs to be some way to hold people accountable for the way they conduct themselves at the workplace. Usually a complaint to a boss or a bad review solves this. I imagine this doctor has a supervisor of some kind.

Wouldn't a complaint to the hospital solve this problem?

The doctor runs a private practice then poor reviews sets it straight? (Believe it or not reviews are big with private practice)

What would be the best way to deal with this without going overboard?

I'd hate to see long lasting punishment like revocation of her license but something needs to be done.

Any pictures of the Docs?

Logger.

Example, the son of a lumber mill owner was out doing site inspections when he came across a grizzled old contractor running a log loader and he hears this on the radio channel "Hey Junior, is that you?...it is you! Well, your family has been fucking me in the ass for years and now its my turn" and the guy gets out of the cab of his machine, buck naked and holding a pry bar. Junior stepped on the gas and got out of there. This logger is still selling wood to this mill.

RE: Man wins $500,000 after recording female-led surgury team verbally abusing patiant
Quote:I think suing someone for mean words is a little bit of an American phenomenon. That being said there needs to be some way to hold people accountable for the way they conduct themselves at the workplace. Usually a complaint to a boss or a bad review solves this. I imagine this doctor has a supervisor of some kind

Wouldn't a complaint to the hospital solve this problem?

It won't. The hospital director will feign concern to your face, you know just like the doctor did before you were anesthetized, and then: Wow! Nothing will happen. The clinic will protect their own (unless they did some heinous shit like cut his dick off and glued it back on the wrong way).

Law #15, Crush your enemy totally. Let's say they didnt' lie about the condition. Still hit them with a law suit, even a frivolous one will bring bad publicity and then:

1. Pay someone to write a damning press release,

2) Send it and the mp3 to as many reporters as you can.

3) Do interviews on camera, upload to YouTube, try to get on the daytime talk show circuit(cry on camera)

4) ???

5) Profit.

If I looked out my showroom window and saw a fully-nude woman force-fucking an alligator with a strap-on while snorting xanex on the roof of her rental car with her three children locked inside with the windows rolled up, I wouldn't be entirely amazed.
