Cowboy hats/Attire
I don't think we have a thread on this type of attire. The thing is that I'm going to Texas to live soon so I want to go down there prepared.

I have a hat and some boots from when I used to live there, but they are already worn out. Any experts on this type of attire?

Looking for some boots and a hat for all those Mexican dances in Texas.

RE: Cowboy hats/Attire
I've been wearing cowboy boots for over 4+ years now. I like them. Make me taller. Feel good on my feet. Look good. They can get hot during the summer and some people hate on them pretty hard but usually they're faggots.

My boots are just dark brown throughout with a regular pointy toe. Nothing fancy. Snake skin ones are pretty crazy though.

I have a cowboy hat but only wear it if i'm going to a specific wester event such as the Calgary Stampeed.

RE: Cowboy hats/Attire
Something I know a little bit about. To preface I worked ranches through high school and a couple years after until I joined the Army.

Boot wise I like the tall buckaroo style Tony Llamas. Good leather and replaceable heel. Spending $250 on boots I want to have them for awhile. If you wear away the outside of the heel and the boots roll over it will seriously mess your knees up.

Hat style is regional. I have always liked the Great Basin/Buckaroo style but we trained horses in that style as well so it crossed over. If you're not going to live under it then a low X count will be fine. The higher the X the finer the felt is and the higher the price. If it's going to be hot for most of the year check out palm leaf hats. Way more comfortable than those plasticized straw jobs and I think they look better.

Shirts and jeans. I like pearl snaps, just one of those timeless classics. I wear wrangler 13mwz's. Once they wear in and fade they look good, especially if you squat. I know when I have been doing well in the gym when the middle age women grab my bitt in the bar.

Dress more like the guys in the picture 3 from the bottom with the white shirts and tan vests and less like the clown in the bottom picture.

Midwest, I'll save you a lot of trouble and say.... Do not dress like that. Seriously man, you're better than that.

On the reals, dress like that and you'll be harassed by the popo mistaking you for a mojado. Not to mention you like gringas, and they do not look fondly at that attire.

All that cowboy gear looks ideal if you're planning a "Brokeback" themed Cis-hetero-hetero man marriage!

Ahhh come on! I heard you cats down in Texas are hitting the bars dressed in cowboy/Mexican gear and spitting game at the gringas Laugh.

That was funny, I almost spilled my juice over that one.

At most I would consider a hat. I've been in Texas for a long time and CattleRustler is spot on about the mojado look.

Well the difference is jaja, the shinola style lets say you wear designer jeans rather than wrangle jeans as in the Zacatecas-Chihuahua style, most of my cousins who are Charro and are in the coleadero scene do wear the wranglers, along with the western style hat, the reason I ask is because the Shinola style hats brim is shorter than the regular western style.

I dont know it all comes to personal style for example

[Image: 11251120_1011724155540050_57102662006816...e=562F2894]

as far as boots, id go with some dark ostrich color
maybe this style.

Check out botas el malcreado I got some custome made ones a while back theyll do anything you want cheap and in good quality

for shirts paisleys and florals wouldnt look bad I say, Tito Torbellino style.

Midwest probably has this sticker on the back of his S-10.

Ironically the whole pointy boot shit originated in Texas by mojados living here. Then some nigga went on a whole different level by.....adding LED lights.

This is some straight up gay ass mofo.

If you come to Dallas, I'll show you were all the mojados hang out. Not to say but in Dallas there's a shit load of morras from Chihuahua, SLP, Zacatecas, and Durango. We'll hit up a taco joint and see 8 bitches pull out of some tahoe in 5-6 inch heels eating tacos before/after hitting the club.

Hahaha, since we're talking about the finest mojados in 'murica I present you all with this blog:

http://www.chuntaritos.com/

They tend to roast biches and cowboy faggots here. It was a local DFW thing, then a Texas blog, now they get submissions from other places too.

RE: Cowboy hats/Attire
Lucchese is a solid choice for boots. The chocolate caiman belly boots I have get looks and compliments every time I wear them. They make high quality reasonably priced boots, if you maintain them they will last forever. A re-sole and detail only sets you back around $50 and is needed every few years, depending on your wear and tear. If you ever get to El Paso they have a Lucchese factory store where you can find some very nice boots for about half the retail price.

I just saw you mention boots/hats for Mexican dances. Lucchese is more for the rancher/oil man baller. I still get compliments and respect from the Mexican Mexicans when wearing Lucchese but you may want to go with the loud pointy boots if they are your target market.

I bought an old pair of boots at a vintage store. It was one of the best purchases I've ever made. They make me taller and it helps my posture, I don't wear any other western themed attire. I like the contrast when I throw on a henley and some boots.
