Pretty self explanatory. Forced myself to finish it though, it was cheesy and cringeworthy. First found this via a Facebook post, so naturally there were alot of providers and single mothers in the comments.

A song about finding a "good mother" attractive - yet either:

A. She's a single mother who was such a pain in the ass that she couldn't keep the dad around;

B. Or she's still married and is banging around.

Yes, I realize that's a false dichotomy but the other alternative is the rare young widow who is usually angry at the world - making her an unfit wife.

Women seem to think that being a mother (not even a great one) automatically makes them a good wife, so the man gets neglected and eventually leaves. Alternately, once having a child, modernist women know that the man is forced to support her no matter what she does. So she becomes more and more selfish until he leaves or, if he stays and tolerates her, she loses so much respect for him that she leaves.

Name with hyphen aside, JGL has done some pretty funny shit in the past, and I give the dude credit for being a pretty entertaining performer. I recall him doing a routine on Jimmy Fallon that was greatness covering pop songs or something. I think this is perfect satire... not too over the top to create a scene with the easily offended, but to any normal thinking person they find it funny. It's like the friendly version of Dick In A Box, Boats N Hoes, Natalie Portman Raps, I'm On A Boat, etc. I don't think this is cringeworthy in the sense that you took it to be. It's new wave comedy. We will see more of this because it is vague in nature.

For those who wanted a red-pill movie out of Don Jon I recommend The Ugly Truth. It came out a few years ago - but got some pretty awful reviews. (13% on Rotten Tomatoes). It's by no means great - but fairly entertaining, and has some issues in it's 3rd act. It's hard to believe it was a mainstream movie intended for a mass audience. Watch the scene below for an example of why critics lashed at it.

It makes sense Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be the one behind such a Beta anthem.

After all, this guy's Big Artistic Statement was the movie "Don Jon." In short, the message of that movie was: Pass up the young hottie in favor of a woman old enough to be your mom.

I also intensely disliked the unrealistic Italian-American stereotypes of that film. Not because they were stereotypes, mind you. But because they were Hollywood's imaginary idea of what Italians are like. I come from a big, extended Italian-Americans family and no one I ever knew behaved like these people, especially the "dad" character played by Tony Danza. For example, sex is NOT talked about openly in Italian-American families and fathers would never leer at their son's girlfriends.*

Anyway, Gordon-Levitt spends his off-camera time playing the social justice game, but has no qualms about trading in (fantasy) negative stereotypes when it suits his needs.

I have issues with directors who don't do research into the culture they're portraying. Italian-American culture isn't something new, obscure, or hard to figure out. If he can't get something as obvious as that right, why should we trust what he has to say with this "comedy" video?

* If you want to see what Italian-Americans are really like, check out "A Bronx Tale." Now there's a movie for guys. If there was ever a Manosphere Movie list, that should be in the top ten.

As much as I agree with you with regard to how Italian-Americans are depicted in popular media, I also have to concede that I'd rather be depicted as a masculine, unintellectual, douchebag with a close family than the alternative generic "White male". Nearly every tv show on today that depicts contemporary White males makes them out to be feminine, nerdy, whipped, evil, or a combination of the four. The perfect example of this is in the show Ballers, where the accountant is made to look like a complete loser in comparison to "The Rock" or anyone else in that show. Italian-Americans and Russians have dodged that bullet courtesy of the "masculine gangster" stereotype that they have.

I don't mean to whine or create a race thread, but I'd rather my family be depicted as The Sopranos than Everybody Loves Raymond.

ON TOPIC: No matter how much the media tries to paper over the downfalls of single motherhood and the psychosis of most women who are single mothers, most men are going to continue to know the truth, if not consciously then subconsciously.

I know several single moms and most of them have boyfriends. They post pictures of their "familes" on Facebook. Vactions, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Bar Mitzvahs, etc. And their boyfriends don't have kids of their own. I understand having a single mom as a jump off. I understand a single dad dating a single mom. I don't understand a childless man dating a single mom. It makes no sense to commit financial and emotional resources to children who aren't yours. She probably has a ton of debt. The single moms I know aren't the best at managing money. If you marry the mother, you could pay alimony and child support for children who aren't yours if she divorces you. That's a ridiculous amount of risk just to be not unhappy. I don't know if these men know the truth and ignore it or are unware of the truth. But I do know that the thirst is real.

People listened to alternative music in the '90s because it was everywhere. Men date single mothers these days for a similar reason. They're inescapable. In some communities, anyway.

Sociologists have noted that years ago women would perceive their life plans as: boyfriend-marriage-family. Now the baby comes first, and they set about planning their life after that. What you're seeing with men dating single moms is a response to that.

What Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his ilk don't realize is that with videos like this, they're contributing to the culture's dysfunction. Notice how their focus is single mothers and not the kids. A society that appeases women at the expense of kids is a trouble one.

Captain save-a-hoe syndrome. These guys are a gold digger's dream! It's a little about the thirst, but it's also about a Jesus fantasy wherein, if they can save some skank from her sins, it makes them feel like a mini Savior. The more fucked up she is, the bigger the payoff when he saves her. Of course, once her life is stable, she'll get bored and go back to her whore ways.

It's not unlike a woman dating and trying to change a bad boy - she defines her worth by the amount she's able to change him.

Made it through the same amount of this as I made through the hot garbage that was Don Jon. JGL is a faggot that I've lost all respect for. This is absolutely not satire/troll, this is something that JGL and co. are actively pushing and it's received by the usual suspects with "atta boy" all around. The biggest male feminist on my facebook shared this with the comment "Joseph has the right idea." Despicable.
