RE: Iran Expecting Tourism Boom After Nuclear Deal
Quote:U.S. citizens made up only 14 percent of the 25 “Iran Adventure” tours arranged by California-based Intrepid Travel in the 2013-2014 season, a spokesman said.

Iran also requires that American tourists be accompanied by an Iranian chaperone or certified tour group 24/7.

Not good.

Don't see how this could be good for gaming, considering the chaperone will be there to make sure nothing out of the ordinary goes on. However, as time goes on Iran could relax its travel restrictions for Americans. At that point, Iran might be a decent place for gaming considering there are reportedly lots of "underground" parties when lots of debauchery goes on in Iran.

Pretty sure a couple of guys on here have gone to Iran and witnessed every girl being questioned after they spoke to them by the secret police.

Seriously though. Tourism? I have no interest in visiting any Muslim country. They have nothing that I want to see and the risk of getting killed for being American is too great. I'll take my dollars to Cuba.

Iran may be an iteresting place to visit. But being their mortal enemy it would not work.
As per game - maybe in big cities. Don't bet on it though.

Ha, an American in Iran should be more concerned about how to deal with all the people welcoming him with open arms than being afraid of getting killed.

RE: Iran Expecting Tourism Boom After Nuclear Deal
There are many hot Iranian girls and the country is rather westernized, in that the younger generations love western culture. It still has draconian laws regarding pornography and drugs, but I know a few Iranian dudes from Medical School and they told me the underground party scene and hook up culture for the elite rich kids is wild. The alpha fucks beta bucks strategy is in effect there as well, and hymen replacement surgery is also a thing there for upper class girls. Scientifically they are pretty advanced, and one of my classmates is an Iranian Jew- I honestly did not know they existed, they have jewish temples and neighborhoods there. I would give Iran a go, but I would be very careful.

RE: Iran Expecting Tourism Boom After Nuclear Deal
It has more to do with the removal of the cockblock sanctions then any nuclear deal. Iran was getting fucked over for years now with petty sanctions.

Look to see a economic uptick there very soon. Iran has a large build up of independent industry from its history of being isolates via sanction phases. They have a base there to grow off of and now they can go seek real heavy investments from Russia/India/China and get some large scale trade deals going.

I wouldn't go to Iran until they change governments or rein in the Republican Guard. You guys are taking this lightly. One of the professors at my alma mater was nearly kidnapped off the street by them. The only thing that saved him was knowing Ahmadinejad from the old days and calling him. Unless you have connections I'd stay away.

RE: Iran Expecting Tourism Boom After Nuclear Deal
I know a couple who went there earlier this year. Not Tehran. A smaller, historical, city. Mid twenties. Not at all experienced in international travel. For the girl it was her first time out the country. The husband was freaking out before the trip (it was his wife's idea), thinking that he'd be fending off every male in the nation who would supposedly be hitting on his blonde wife. But of course it was nothing like that. They both had a blast and made a number of friends. I was not at all surprised since Iran gets so few "Western", or really any, tourists that they were a bit of a curiosity and were treated very well. It is true that they are South African (South Africa has semi-friendly relations with Iran), so I suppose that could have been an issue, but I think that as long as you don't touch politics or religion an American or European would have a good experience in the country as well. I mean how long ago was the hostage crisis? 1970's wasn't it?

It has always struck me as incredibly bizarre that there is supposedly this "cultural clash" between Western nations and Iran, inflamed by both sides, while most of the West has very good relations with Arab countries. This has to be ass-backwards, since whatever the neo-conservative exaggerations, Western-Iranian/Persian cultures have far more in common than Western-Arab. Just speak to a number of Iranians and a number of Arabs if you don't believe me. It's one of life's great mysteries that history has produced a reality that is exactly backward. Politics...

Don't confuse the iranian government and politics with the people.
Iranians are known for their hospitality and friendliness. People who have been will tell you this.
Is see these misconceptions about Iran all the time.
Most people just fall victim to the shit they hear or read in the news.
Go, see, experience.

Persian culture, art, literature, language and Sciences has contributed alot to creating and forming europe and the east trough time.
Persia is also one of the first civilizations, and has 19 places on the Unesco World Heritage List.

I am sure as hell going within the next year.

With all due respect, Americans are a bigger target in Iran than Norwegians are.

Traveled to Iran for a month-long stay in 2013 and I have to admit that it's my poosy paradise and convinced me to learn Farsi.

If you're all about Middle Eastern, Central Asian and other half-White half-Asian women, walking around Tehran, Kermanshah and Isfahan is like going to a top model convention, the only bump is that you have to get into a social circle to admire the sheer beauty of the average Persian girl as she takes off her veil in private only. I have plans to go back in the near future.

And I have to give it up to the innovative Persians for pioneering traffic jam game (those that traveled to Tehran will know what I'm talking about).

Iran is completely safe as long as you don't act a fool or speak shit against the regime or the prophet.

I think Iran is the only country I've been to where people are heading to their cars to party and let loose.

Good times.

RE: Iran Expecting Tourism Boom After Nuclear Deal
Ironically I dated a girl briefly the past few months who's in Iran now visiting family. They really are friendly people, Westernized by Middle Eastern standards and from what I can see there are tons of tourist destinations that I would personally love to see.

That said, the laws are very conservative. Women are required by law in Iran to wear a head covering at all times (A good chance to get a 'Hijab Flag'!). That said, I don't think Iran is going to be Poosy Paradise any time soon.

The US and Canada are where a lot of Persians fled after the Revolution.

I havent been, but I can almost guarantee that if a guy from LA, Vancouver or a place like that went, he would be hammered with invites from people there as they would have family who live in one of these places. Like mentioning Surrey in Punjab Province.

I have a lot of Persian connections here in Vancouver. Never met a practicing Muslim Persian yet. Smart, capable, hard working people with a lot of "family money" that can be a bone of contention among older Canadians as they buy up high value real estate.

Latinas of the middle east and the best eyes in the world, no contest.

Damn you guys.
Now I wanna go there for a second round.

Iran made a great impression on me. Usually visiting a new country is just another country.
But Iran was different and it definitely stands out among the others.

One of these days.
