Long storey short. Ex LTR girlfriend stole my personal journal. She gave clear intentions of her malicious intent to disclose my personal journal to however.

Unfortunately children born by me is involved, so disclosing the information could well affect those children and their families. Apart from my discomfort.

Do anyone please have a con-disclosure agreement for relationships to protect the information contained therein?

She most likely also took photos of the pages.

Any help would be much appreciated. I got a way to make her sign it and hand back the journal. But first would like the agreement signed and sorted.

If it means as much to you and the consequences of its revelation are of the magnitude you insinuate then:

Go and see a lawyer. Pronto.

Ye, you'd need to give a lot more detail than you have done, and be more transparent about how you're going to get her to sign.

I trained as a lawyer in the UK, but never practised. Everything you need will be available on the internet or in a public library, failing that you don't have to pay very much for LexusNexis, or Westlaw. Be aware though that if you obtain her signature by deception or under duress then the agreement is very unlikely to hold up in court.

As a relevant aside, it's interesting to note that today the first case of someone being found guilty in the UK for 'revenge porn'. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/33...rn-offence

It would be interesting to see how this might affect a case such as yours, where the situation is somewhat similar (non-consensual publication of personal material (including images if she did take photos) with the intent to cause embarrassment, distress etc).

If you are not familiar with handling contracts/legal agreements/disputes, this may not be the time to cut your teeth, only you can really decide. I am loathe to encourage anyone to patronise a lawyer, but for some it may be the right decision.

Some relevant questions that come to mind:

Do you have a police report documenting the initial theft?

Let's say after you get the journal back, and she reveals the information (perhaps anonymously) despite promising not to, would you be able to make a credible denial e.g. "That's not my journal, not my handwriting, looks photoshopped, etc"

How damaging really is the information? You are concerned about some sort of negative assessment of you, but if you're a stand-up person in other ways you can argue, "Hey I made a mistake a long time ago and I've more than made up for it since" or something along those lines.

Can you put the truth out first and preempt her cuntish behavior? People will give you some sympathy because you're being hassled by a lunatic.

Yes, report the theft and see a lawyer asap. Not sure you can legally stop revelation of embarrassing personal details...but material injurious to children might have more merit.
