Millitary Sevice
I am a dual national of Turkey and England and I have reached an age where I have to do my 12 months of service.

As I am a dual citizen, I can pay a fee which who'll bring this down to 27 days Sevice when I am 38.

Now I work a pretty shit job but I'm moving up in the company and can save money.

As the army doesn't pay you for the Sevice, do you think this would be a good idea?

I've always wanted to join the millitary for my country of origin and it would possibly help me become a man.

The obvious down falls will be that I will not see my family, my dog etc and that would be pretty hard for me. Also the financial issue when I get back and have to find a job.

Do you think I should do this now or when I'm 38 and do 27 days?

Also sorry if some of it didn't make sense.

RE: Millitary Sevice
I did 24 months of military service and I can tell you that during this time, my life was on pause.

Ironically in my 13th month of military service I discovered this forum and got my first both from cold approaching.

Yes I read a lot, I worked out, I approached, but it was exhausting doing military service and working on myself.

If you can, pay the government off for a shorter conscription. If you can't afford it, borrow money.

The military has been romanticized so much, it's ridiculous.

Yes you learn drills, how to fire a weapon, and to obey orders. You get punished otherwise.

If you can, get out of the military.

RE: Millitary Sevice
There's more to being a man than chasing drunk tail at clubs and parties. The Army will help you build character.

With that being said, I don't think your loyalties are in the right place if you're living in the U.K. and considering service elsewhere. Turks do this all the time in Germany thanks to Erdogan and other anti-integration politicians - they live here, enjoy the benefits of life in the West (education, social services, job market) but serve in the Turkish military. It's a slap in the face really.

My suggestion would be to join the British military. Better pay, better training, better equipment. 27 days of service in Turkey will do nothing to improve you as a man or help contribute back to the society where you're currently living.

Avoid the Turkish military. You could get butt banged, or killed by a Kurd.

Trying to be helpful here. I'm pretty sure they are easy to find if you Google for it. But I suggest you are by yourself and not at work when you do.

Pretty insulting thing to say man. You really think you get banged by some commander?

As for my loyalties, I really dislike England and its principles and my loyalties align with the Turks. I was born in England by the way and my father is English but I do not feel one bit English.

I could not potentially put my life on the line for something I do not believe in.

I'm being serious. There's a lot of cross border stuff going on with the Turks and Kurds. A few guys that are still active in that theatre were giving me a rundown a while back. And as far as butt banging? Guys stationed in Turkey at different times, independent of each other mentioned some things to me that were appalling.

You really trust that they'd send you on a righteous cause? Do the bare minimum you can get away with. You're a free man and you don't need a government to give your life meaning.
Soldiers are meat to be ground up to satisfy the power hungry and their money hungry supporters. All you get is vague intangibles about 'it'll give you character' etc. I'd rather have my life and my freedom thanks.

He's being helpful here, turkish conscription is only one level better than turkish prison.

Why do you stay then? You have dual citizenship, why do you not move to Turkey, where presumably all is milk and honey? If you 'really dislike England', and are not staying out of loyalty, why are you staying at all?

Quite.

RE: Millitary Sevice
I've had dozens and dozens of friends and relatives who went to military, as it is obligatory for all able men, and never heard anything about rape.

There are however some butt sex going on but that's just because closet gays, who don't dare coming out in conservative Turkish society, come out in military and find some boy lover to indulge. But this is by no means a risk of getting ''butt banged'' for you and me.

Who in his right mind would go there if there were any risk of getting raped? My friend who is engaged just came back from military service because he wanted to get that out of the way.

As for getting killed by Kurds, if you get assigned to Eastern Turkey, I would bet my money on that something bad will happen to you.

I agree with with Messrs. H1N1 and CrashBangWallop. Though I am not of British origin, it seems pretty parasitic to live in a country you hate and suck on its resources. It is like those that gripe about America and but still want to stay because it is better than where they are from.

I am not trying to troll here, and this is a general comment not directed at the OP. But it is like people from the Middle East (to be honest I am not clear if Turkey lies in the Middle East) who end up in places like France and Sweden to find better lives and live freely off the government, yet despise it and in essence bite the hand that feeds them. Then they blame the generous hosts for all their problems and decide that mounting terrorist attacks are justified. Yet, they left problems behind in their original country to a better place. It boggles my mind.

If you don't like your host country's values move to a country where your values and the country values align. Trying to start some internal strife to force your host to behave the way you want is just ridiculous. Sounds like an SJW's thought process. And it is dishonorable to disrespect those who have been generous with you. It isn't like these countries are actively recruiting for more people to feed. They are generous because they are trying to become compassionate plus some misguided policies.

I went off on a tangent. My apologies.

That was spot on my friend. To the OP Being a Turk myself thank god that you spent the most valuable years of your life in UK otherwise there was a big chance you could end up in the "30 years old virgins club". Or thinking about how to make the end of the month with your <500$ salary, of course if this is if you could pass millions in the unemployment queue.
I understand you can not relate yourself to the country you are living in right now but think about it as an individual. You could do much better in UK then returning there. I decided to leave the country when I got a government job but I was asked to sign up for Erdogans fucked up party. Now looking back I really hit my head to the wall everyday thinking "how the fuck I wasted 26 years of my life there?"
And about the army if cleaning toilets or doing some potato job is yours go for it. If you are expecting a real army training you will be disappointed. Almost none of my friends got this real army shit when they wasted their months there. Only one who decided to be a commando and live on the mountains that I call a real man. But else is bullshit. I recommend you to wait until you are 38 but I doubt the country will still exist on that time.

Personally I feel, given what we know about the OP, that this is bad advice.
