RE: Best tactic to pull from a club when travelling abroad with a wing?
The 'separation question' is an interesting one, and one that bugged me for a while - mostly because you can only really understand the mechanism in hindsight, and with enough experience.
It seems to come down a lot to culture, and more importantly the attitudes between the friends. In some cases, one of the girls will cling her friend (cockblock), in other cases she'll let her get on with it. I'm almost 100% solo, and I've yet to have encountered a situation where a wing improved things. Primarily because of the situation you described: if the odds of a girl liking you or your friend is 50%, the odds of you both being liked is 25%.
How easy it is to break a girl from a pair or a group depends on where on the "slut to prude" spectrum the average of the group is, and on how well they know each other. A slutty group is going out on the understanding that they are probably going to get banged. A prude group knows the others will shame her if she gets banged. Also a bunch of old friends are going to be more prudish than a bunch of new acquaintances (e.g. on holiday).
As usual, whether the girl is in a pair or a group, you want to keep attempting to isolate her, as far away from her group and for as long as possible as you can. How easy it is to do this depends where her group is on the aforementioned spectrum, and on how much she likes you (in that order).
Pairs appear to break by the following circumstances (as long as you are applying 'isolation effort'):
- The girl just tells her friend she likes you and is staying with you. I've found this the most common. Obviously a girl in a prude group just won't do this, even if she thinks you're Adonis (get her contact). Generally, the more attractive and 'upstanding' you appear before her friend, the more comfortable she is doing this, as it is 'justification'.
- She loses contact with her friend. This causes a 'prisoners dilemma' effect, whereby she can't know if her friend is off to get banged, and her friend can't know that about her either, so they both assume it and carry on with getting banged.
- The friend can see you like each other, and just gets out of the way (or even encourages her in some cultures). Again, the above 'justification' applies.
All of those are also helped along by higher average drunkenness and general disorder (large crowds or parties etc make it more difficult to keep track of each other).
