Two 16 year old high school students, now 17, were charged with sending sexual photographs, of themselves, to each other. The girl made a plea deal with prosecutors amounting to 1 year probation and $200 fine, while the guy is facing jail time and the requirement to register as a lifelong sex offender.

If this isn't the ultimate example of a pussy pass I don't know what is:

Age of consent is 16 in North Carolina.

So they can see each other naked in person and it's legal. They can have actual sex and that's legal. She can also get pregnant and go on welfare and that's perfectly legal.

Also according to state law, they can get married at 16 with parental permission. But if she'd gotten pregnant, they could get married even younger with no permission: "Minors 14-15 may obtain license with court order in case of pregnancy or birth of child."

But sending a nude photo? Jail time!! Off with their heads!!

I wonder if their lawyers brought all this up -- and if so, whether the absurdity of it registered with the judge. Basically, the law gives a free pass to 14-year-olds who get knocked up, but jails kids two years older for sending dirty pics. WTF!

The real criminals in cases like this are the investigators and prosecutors that bring charges in an instance such as this. Rather than seeking justice for a victim that's been harmed they are inflicting the harm themselves for the sake of adding to their "conviction" scorecard to advance their own career. At least a few states have changed laws because of high profile cases like this. Maybe NC will follow suit, and hopefully his case will get thrown out. Some of the charges people can face for minor offenses are ridiculous, probably to encourage plea bargaining like she did, but most people won't receive anything near the maximum even if they are convicted.

This is some true big brother shit right here. Here is a prime example of when legislation has gone too damn far and dug into people's personal lives where they don't ever belong.

Sure, they were older kids technically, but God damn, they were dating and experimenting with sex before 18 isn't a crime yet. Or is it? From star quarter back to sex offender in the push of a text button.
