What the fuck am I reading? Do I understand correctly that if I don't sign up for this app, no one will be able to see negative reviews of me? That's at least alright, I guess.

But does anyone else think it's absurd that you can't remove yourself from their database? I'm not Applebee's.

Edit, oh I see, if you don't register, only the positive reviews are shown that people make of you. That is a huge deterrent to making an account. I'll just never make an account, and then not have to worry about potential negative reviews.

I don't see how this doesn't violate defamation laws through libel. This is essentially a database where you can document potentially negative opinions on people that anyone could look up that could damage one's reputation and easily cause social and professional damage.

This is going to a disaster in terms of defamation/libel lawsuits.

It's pretty dodgy that people can leave reviews of a person even if that person hasn't made an account. They should have made it that only people who have an account can be reviewed.

We all know this app is just going to be a a ton of women bitching about the men, society, and the patriarchy.

What´s the difference between that and the files the Stasi kept on the citizens of the GDR? Once this gains traction and becomes popular, which is not impossible given the average consumer drone, your neighbours, colleagues, friends, enemies, acquaintances, all could easily denounce you. People would start self-censorship of their thoughts and opinions, like political correctness but ten times as severe.

After all, HR people all over the world would finally be able to easily search for your name and read your reviews, and who would want to risk his career like that? You move into a new apartment or house, your immediate neighbors will look you up. Other students in school, on campus, in your class won´t be able to resist either. This app, if successful, would introduce de facto voluntary censorship and thought-policing through the backdoor.
Of course it was a woman´s idea, they love that shit, for them it´s all about gossip and backstabbing treachery, judging everyone and everything around them behind closed doors. They can´t see the big picture.
On the contrary, they would even enjoy the outcome, a society where everyone is nice to each other, nobody´s feelings are hurt, conflict of any kind is non-existent, love and harmony rule, with everyone being happy, happy, happy. What an Utopia!

But is is illegal to claim/publish false defamatory information which I predict many would do, and in the eyes of the United States Supreme Court, it is also illegal to claim/publish defamatory opinions as they cannot be proven true - the US Supreme Court does not recognize Opinion Privilege in cases of Defamation of Character.

EDIT: But you are correct in that the company itself may not be held liable for content that it's user-base creates.

The only positive stipulation means you can still easily fuck with people every which way regardless.

Tips to fuck with people:

Post as their fling and make various "positive" comments full of innuendo under their name. If they are married of in a relationship it brings stress.

Fake post as a job recruiter who just got through interviewing them. This is especially damaging if they don't plan to switch jobs anytime soon.

Post as a "model" talking about their "hot" interview process.

Mention the time as kids he kicked a puppy.
