Just read Brad Feld's "Venture Deals". He had an interesting piece where he discussed VC responses and how to respond to each:

Yes - they're clearly interested and pushing the deal. Go for it unless you have reason to slow-roll them (other lead investor interest).
No - they clearly say no. Move on.
Maybe - seems interested, but doesn't step up his level on engagement. Keep pinging them until you get a lead investor.
Slow No - they're sorta responsive, but always initiated by you and never goes anywhere. Easy to confuse with a "Maybe". These people will suck your time. He didn't have a great method around figuring these out; simply recommended "consider them a no".

Krauser had a similar bit where he breaks girls down into Yes, No, Maybe (and states that really good Game is turning "Maybes" into "Yes"s).

I find the additional "Slow No" category to be interesting, but haven't decided how useful it would be in practice. I guess this would be determined by one's approach to Maybe's: do you keep engaging until something changes, or simply move on to find more Yes girls?

If the former, then the ability to effectively distinguish between Maybe's and Slow No's has a high ROI. If the latter, then you don't care.

I have no problem with the "no's". They don't waste your time after-all.
Appreciate the "yes's" of course.
Yet damn those time wasting "maybe's".

I should probably start being more arrogant towards the "maybe's".
Or just use them for my personal entertainment.

A "slow-no" equivalent in game would be a cock-tease/attention whore. A girl who just wants to chat, flirt, and waste your time. Maybe exchange pics but never actually meet up. Maybe they have boyfriends or some other dick(s) on lock so have no desire to put in the effort to invest in another. They just want the validation and the entertainment.

I always want a yes or no. I try to not accept maybes unless the girl is very attractive.

There are ways to force a girl to give you a yes or a no. Most of the time these tactics will result in a no but a lot will result with a yes. Some will result with an initial yes and then a flake. Maybe 1/3 result with a yes for me and actually meeting in person.

How nice, cocky, or arrogant you are and how direct or indirect you are depends a lot on the girl, the culture, the situation, etc.

Examples for girls from online dating that haven't agreed to meeting in person.
1. I've enjoyed talking with you. Let's meet soon. When are you available?
2. We've talked a lot and obviously have a strong connection. I would like to meet you but I don't see the point in continuing to talk if we aren't going to meet.
3. I'm starting to think you are one of those girls who spends all her time chatting with guys on Tinder and Whatsapp but never actually meets anyone in real life.

I've used all of these with success but some the more advanced guys on the forum could probably tweak the language in these examples to make them more effective.
