Someone who isn't me was railroaded into a conviction for a sexual assault he didn't commit a few years back. He is out of prison but is a registered sex offender who has several restrictions placed on his life, one of which is a "revoked passport." This all took place in California.

SWIM has an old passport and it's not expired for another couple years, just revoked. Can he use it to fly out of the US? Can he cross the Canadian or Mexican border by land then use it to fly from a Canadian or Mexican airport? If he gets caught at an airport or land border, does he go to jail, or can he leave peacefully and try again at a different airport or border location?

http://news.passportoffices.us/help/pass...evocation/
Reasons A Passport May Be Revoked

The Department of State, in accordance with the Title 22 of the Code of Federal Regulations 51.60-62, and 51.65, will revoke passports for the following reasons:

Passport was obtained illegally or fraudulently
Non-Payment of child support
Passport was misused or changed/altered
Passport holder’s Certificate of Naturalization or Certificate of Citizenship is cancelled
Certain drug trafficking convictions
Those convicted of sex tourism

Not sure how accurate this list is, but sexual assault isn't covered on it.

Non-payment of child support is ridiculous though. They can literally throw you in jail AND stop you from leaving the country because of it.

Also sex tourism, which I guess refers to men going abroad to have sex with underage girls. I can't imagine it being long before they expand this definition to include all kinds of shit to stop men from going abroad to escape overweight and classless American women.

It's part of SWIM's parole terms.

Rio your link admits at the bottom that it's just a summary. The full list has a lot more on it. Google 22 CFR 51.60

Drop the SWIM it won't hold up in a court of law.

Why don't you instead wait out your parole so you can become a legit "freeman" then apply for a passport to move permanently to a locale that isn't the US? Breaking your parole means you'll have bounty hunters on your ass.

Details of passport cancellations, loss, theft, revocation, etc. are shared between countries via Interpol. They maintain a database of passports that are no longer valid.

I would put your chances of getting through a US border post with a revoked US passport at close to 0.

Your friends lying you don't get your passport revoked just for having a felony.... Unless he's on parole and or probation which means he has to simply wait until that sentence is over... How long is his parole?

I actually had to stop for a second and to double check if I was on a drugs-forum.com instead of RVF.

You can travel abroad even while on probation. All you have to do is ask for permission from your PO or court if needed.

If this really isn't you, that's cool.
If you're asking for yourselfyou should be very careful and obtain written legal advice from a competent lawyer, and not from some guy on a forum like me.
A revoked passport means it's no longer valid.
Parole/probation terms most likely also exclude international travel. Under the rare possibility that "SWIM" is actually not prevented from leaving the US, it IS possible tolegally travel outside the US by land (Canada/Mexico) with a few other types of ID (such as the enhanced DL issued by a few states.)

Forget the Canuckistan border, "your friend" would be the wet dream of our quota filling swivel serpents. Flying out actually has less stringent checks than land border crossings on y'alls North border.

But he/you will be fucked hard when you return and if you/him are caught. I used to like travelling to the US, but the border has become crazier under Obama, I only do land crossings two or three times a year where I used to go once a month.

Full first/middle/last name and date of birth must be provided (to the airline, and from the airline to the government) before departure and is cheked against databases. This info must agree with document used for check-in.

I stand by my advice: comply with probation/parole requirements. Violating these is a serious offense. Wait until you can travel overseas without breaking probation/parole terms.

No, the border became crazy under Bush.

Yes the Homeland Security nonsense started in Post 9/11, but it has become EVEN more sillier under Obama, not less. With tighter security checks & larger & larger databases. What used to be a simple shopping or cheap dinner run across Niagara or Fort Erie has become an hours long PITA. My last run in was crewing on buddy's sailboat across Lake Ontario for a regatta, only to have INS & Coast Guard swarm the boat at 3am.

To check a permit we didn't even need. If your passport is revoked, they'll know about it along the CAN-US border. They share everything.

US passports may be denied or revoked for failure to pay IRS taxes.

Quote:Under a new law expected to take effect in January, the State Department will block Americans with “seriously delinquent” tax debt from receiving new passports and will be allowed to rescind existing passports of people who fall into that category. The list of affected taxpayers will be compiled by the Internal Revenue Service using a threshold of $50,000 of unpaid federal taxes, including penalties and interest, which would be adjusted for inflation.

Americans: Pay Your Taxes--Or Lose Your Passport, in the Wall Street Journal.

Additionally, the law "is part of a highway-funding bill, H.R. 22, that is before a conference committee. Congress is expected to pass it in early December."

to take back or withdraw; annul, cancel, or reverse; rescind or repeal:
to revoke a decree.

to bring or summon back.
verb (used without object), revoked, revoking.
3.

noun
4.

In other words its cancelled

Sounds like your "friend" isn't going anywhere. While there's a chance you could get out of Mex or Canada with it you're going to have a hell of a problem getting back in. If not leaving the country is a condition of parole then...
