I was reading other threads on the importance of speaking clearly.

I decided to test this myself, turns out my ability to communicate can be significantly improved upon.

Any tips/forums/books/lessons I can use to correct my speaking skills?

My advises:

1. Just like in Game - practice makes perfect
My first ever lecture was in high school. I lectured on "The Origins of Totalitarian Democracy". That was the first in countless lectures I gave, and it was awful.
The more I practiced, the more I became better.

2. Constructive criticism - Ask people to tell you what you are not doing right, and how to improve.
Most of the time you will get only negative feedback, but sometime someone will give you an excellent advice.

3. Go to places where people talk - meetups for example. Lookup things of interest to you and participate. People might ask you to "speak up" or "slower" or any other form of change you need to make to your way of speech.

4. Awareness - speaking comes "naturally". We have been doing it since age 2 (or 3). We rarely stop to think about it.
Having awareness means that once in a while you make an effort to "hear yourself". That will make a difference.

5. Patience - changing something basic in yourself takes a long time. Don't get frustrated if change does not come quickly. It is a journey to self improvement.

6. You can always pay a speech therapist, if you feel you lack the motivation to do it yourself. Investing money is sometimes a way to become committed.
