Technically incorrect; Coldplay is headlining and Beyonce and Bruno Mars will be making appearances. Not that they're that much more masculine an act, but still... also, Beyonce already headlined in 2013 so not really a new event.

In fact, if you're keeping track, the past 5 halftime shows were:

-Madonna
-Beyonce
-Bruno Mars
-Katy Perry
-Coldplay

I guess this is their idea of counter-programming to get women "interested" in the game (via a 9 minute musical act). Or maybe the halftime show is a sign of the United States nowadays... feminized acts for an increasingly feminized nation.

This isn't news. She did the show a few years ago so who cares. It was supposed to be just Coldplay that nobody likes and they are not old school enough to get the Boomers riled up. Beyonce brings to the table the millions of women who will FB and tweet about her.

Let us it forget Katy Perry was last year... Who is even worse.

You go take your shits at halftime. I only peek at the event if Beyonce is dressed real slutty just to toss my dong some action since he does not give a shit about football.

NFL decisions are made based on $$$. You sell to extremely wealthy men or women. Middle class men are not ideal consumers. This decision makes perfect sense when you consider it from the right perspective.

Not only is the pink worn to support breast cancer awareness, it also used to be considered a masculine color. There is also nothing wrong with men wearing pink, only insecure guys think otherwise.

Halftime's for the ladies. Younger girls dig Beyonce. Older chicks will at least look at it for a bit.

Women make the spending decisons, travel plans, etc. in a lot these NFL Fan houses. Follow the money. NFL knows that the American man's going to put up damn near anything and watch the game no matter what. That also goes for the pink in October.

Should be a good Super Bowl. I hope Carolina wins it.

PS As of last year, you have to pay perform at halftime.

Don't give a crap. Prince's Superbowl Halftime show from the 2007 game was the only one that I watched from start to finish and that was probably better than the game itself.

Yeah, but just think, this was the stretch of shows from 2005 (year after the Janet nipslip) to 2010: Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, The Who. I can't imagine that stretch of acts considering the 5 (soon to be 6) years that followed.

According to the NFL themselves, 45% of the fanbase is women. We have so many unfeminine women that think it is cool to act like a man, wear NFL hoddies that hide the beautiful female form and drunk beer and potato chips and wonder why they are fat (along with their fat husbands and bf's).

I don't respect men who put much stock in today's modern NFL. It is simply an embarrassment. That's not even counting billions of taxpayer dollars they've fleeced to build their stadiums.

Why are Americans so obsessed with entertainment DURING entertainment? Is there no reason why people can't just talk among themselves or use the toilet or buy a snack? All you are doing is giving money to already dirty rich people.

In England, the closest thing you'd get to entertainment during half time is music over the PA system, maybe a raffle and a group of kids getting to do a sport related activity on the pitch.

In all fairness Britchard, American sporting events are on another planet, entertainment wise, to the rest of the World.

I was at Old Trafford recently on a hospitality ticket...I had more fun with a bog standard ticket at a Philly Sixers game.

I agree it doesn't really matter who performs at half-time.

About pink it: it seems a big fat lie modern feminists want to feed us.

The only pink item of clothing that is acceptable for men is a very pale pink shirt but that isn't really flattering for lighter skin, so unless you're black or have dark skin, I wouldn't advise wearing it at all. And don't get me started on bright pink t-shirts/shirts/accessories, those are something a man shouldn't even touch. Could you wear any shade of pink as a suit for example? I highly doubt it. Now try the same thing with blue. It's not social conditioning, only a matter of taste.

Supporting breast cancer is a nice initiative - but every time I see those bright pink accessories, one thing comes to my mind: why don't female athletes/celebrities help raising prostate cancer awareness? It's not any less important than it's female equivalent.

But maybe it doesn't matter, NFL have become utterly pussified, they have to appeal to a wide female audience. At least the same hasn't happened to real football in Europe.

I have a pink polo I break out from time to time. It fits my style. It's all about how you carry yourself.

The NFL will have crossed the line if it starts requiring that women be allowed to play and given special treatment. A few years ago this would've sounded ludicrous, but now not so much.

Let's not turn this into NFL vs. European Football. Neither of them are perfect. I'd love to say Football has resisted the influx of femininity better than the NFL, but we just got women's teams added to FIFA this year and we constantly have feminists bitching about why the USWNT doesn't get paid as much as their male counterparts.
