So I'm pretty new here, recently started applying some of the techniques I learned here. I'd been keeping pretty good eye contact with a couple of girls at my school and smiling, and was really successful. Some of them even downright blushed.

Anyways today I was chilling with 2 other guys from my class when a girl comes up and sits by our table and just talks with us. Out of thin air she bursts out " you have nice eyes ". I didn't expect it and had no idea what to respond with. I just looked at her, smiled and said " Thanks.. but don't expect me to say the same " or something along those lines. I really don't know what I should've responded with and I'm quite bad at receiving compliments in general. Any thoughts on what I should've responded with?

only in short:

Regards to compliments on looks I oftentimes like to say something like ''I know" combined with a light smirk or ''thank you, I know''.

Another strategy would be following:
Women are social conditioned that compliments (judgments) on look are superficial and being superficial is almost evil.
This you can use to shame her a bit, which as crazy as it sounds might increase oftentimes your value in her eyes and push you up.
You accomplish this by reacting to a compliment on looks by looking on her kinda surprised and confused (act a little bit with your bodylanguage - maybe raise an eyebrow or squint your eyes smoothly and move your head a little bit) -> then follow up by saying something like ''Hm..., okay'' -> afterwards looks quickly away or right up into the air (just break eyecontact) -> take slight semi-deep breath (not too much because then it looks too much like acting and too dramatic) -> return now to her as well with EC and start now a new topic with her.

This routine works on some girls pretty hard from my experience.
