I am considering moving to Dubai. I want to know which neighborhood in Dubai is decent for a man in his mid 20's with a rental budget of USD $500-$2000(AED 1836-7345)a month for an apartment.

If anyone has lived in Dubai and can steer me in the right direction that would be great.

Dubai doesn't have one central area where all the nightlife/retail is located. It's spread out over the city. Marina, JLT, downtown and business bay would be my advice for you.

Dubizzle is the best place to look for accommodation. You want a place by yourself or sharing? If for yourself, Marina will be difficult but not impossible on your budget. Downtown would be too expensive. JLT and business bay are cheaper.

Dubai rents are pretty pricey, so be prepared for that. It's somewhat offset by the lack of income tax though. The 'central' area is roughly between Dubai World Trade Center and Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) along the coast, along the Sheikh Zayed Road. I'm in a bit of a rush so MS Paint will have to do, but this should help a little at least:



Unfortunately thats a 25km long strip. Dubai doesn't really have a central nightlife district, the best places are all over that area.

JLT is where my friends who live there all live. It seems to be not too monstrously priced, but still relatively nice (and as 'central' as you're gonna get).

The best advice I can give you is make sure you get an apartment complex with a decent internal gym. You'll probably be working pretty long hours, so having very convenient access to a gym will likely have a large role to play in how much exercise you do. A lot of expats move to Dubai and between the work hours, eating out a lot, and drinking heavy at the weekends they become fat slobs in fairly short order.
