The fight took place at Sonoma Valley High School last week, and video of the altercation shows the girl taking the boy down before administering the beating.
A teacher rushes to the scene screaming "Who is that girl?" as the girl runs away.
According to ABC 7, this was not a random encounter. Rather, students told the channel that the boy "made comments on her Facebook page" and that after she confronted him about it, "he threw water at her." That, apparently, is when the fight broke out.
Now, it goes without saying that the fellow students' story of what precipitated the fight may or may not reflect reality. And, even if it did, that would not justify assault. Regardless, that the video has almost 14 million views suggests that the tale of a girl standing up to a boy bully has resonated with a lot of people.
School officials, understandably, are unhappy with a narrative that in any way justifies violence against a student, and ABC 7 reports they sent a letter home to parents noting that "comments were posted about the incident containing inaccurate information and by persons not having firsthand knowledge."
Students told the channel that the girl has been suspended, and that the boy is attending school with a black eye.

Until I know more about the reason for this fight I am on girl's side for these reasons:

*She kicked ass while being thin and dressing feminine.
*She proved that martial arts do work in real life.
*If water sprinkling is the reason, I think it is justified, I hate this culture of tolerance to microagressions and provocations.
*She gets anti establishment points for running away from some stupid fat cow teacher yelling to get her.
*The reason I will not mention to remain politically correct.

I don't even care who's at fault here. If he's such a weak bitch that he lets this little girl beat him up like this, then he deserves it. Time to make some change, pheggit. Maybe start by not wearing jeans so low anymore that you can't move your legs properly. Also the girl is cute and has a rebellious mind. I like it. Fuck that teacher, I can hear from her voice that she's a broken character. Shouldn't be trusted with educating adolescents.

Usually I'd think "well he let her win". But in this case, as one can clearly see at the beginning of the video, he actually tried to fight her. Turns out he's not as cool as he thought he was.

Yeah, that was a joke. The guy may have been in the wrong but it didn't even look like he threw a punch. One hard elbow while she was trying to grab his legs and that would have been over.

Ok so he doesn't want to hit a girl for personal or legal reasons, thats understandable.

But he couldn't physically overpower that thin girl? He needs to hit the weights immediately.

I disagree. He did try to grapple but I would not call that "fair and square." If that was a guy he was fighting, you could bet he would be throwing punches as fast he could.

I'm not buying the "he didn't fight back" excuse. He's clearly trying to grapple with her throughout.

He got his ass beat because he underestimated his opponent. Simple as that. Even if he didn't want to fight her, he could've done a better job of separating himself. But he was content to try and put her in a headlock and ended up getting hip tossed.

I think that's why he doesn't defend himself properly : he doesn't know how.

I liked the knee hits, even if they seemed very weak.
Lesson learned : even weak hits can knock out, don't underestimate opponent.

How many fights have you seen in real life where two guys just square up like boxers and go at it?

Just because he didn't feel threatened enough to swing first doesn't mean he didn't get his ass beat.

The fight was over before it started.
Completely different approach, the weak as fuck guy unsure what to do and surprised, she determined to get him to the ground and smash her knee into his face. They were not playing the same game here.

Dude got completely humiliated in front of his peer group, and the whole nation can watch it on video over and over again. Sucks.

Two teenagers had a conflict, and they solved it.
Nobody was really injured, there's no reason for any pseudo-authorities to get involved.
No wonder they are all so passive aggressive nowadays when there's no other option left for them.

I've seen two high school fights and thats exactly what happened. The first time it got broken up before too many punches were thrown and the second time one guy got knocked out by a haymaker that connected.

I do agree though that I have never seen two guys square up and fight like boxers. That doesn't happen.

The boy clearly thought he was in a wrestling match and was fighting back, but was overmatched in that regard.

Maybe he'll learn a lesson and hit the weights, and get into some martial arts.

I don't think he was expecting knees to the face, or he would've been throwing punches.

Now if this was my daughter, she'd have hell to come home to. She keeps acting like that, she's almost guaranteed to find herself in a relationship with a man who will punch her in the face.

Did I read that correctly, that you've only seen two high school fights?

"Most" high school "altercations" (the specific words I used) do not come to blows. That is a simple fact. It's usually two guys getting in each others faces, shoving, etc. and this sometimes escalates.

In most places, the police are called and people are arrested in the event of an actual fist fight. This is why it's rare to see two guys just start swinging out of nowhere. For every full-on fist fight, there are probably five other instances where guys are on the verge of fighting but never actually commit.

I'm not giving the girl too much credit at all. Like I said, he underestimated the situation. He didn't hit her because he wasn't prepared, not because he didn't want to hit a girl. If the guy had known she was going to manhandle him at the end there, I'm sure he would've swung earlier. But he didn't.

If he really didn't want to fight, he would've separated himself from her and not tried to grapple, grab her neck, put her in a headlock, etc.

Not in schools, both kids get misdemeanor assault charges. Usually the same with bar fights. I have sucker punched somebody who was sitting down and pounded and booted him when he went down and we both got disorderly conduct.

Catch her with an elbow "accidentally" when "trying to restrain her". It's the only way to avoid legal action.

Punches, knees, slams, etc are automatically considered deliberate in court. Then it doesn't matter, a jury won't believe it was self defense.
