Sure, let's just believe words attributed to a:
(a) convicted criminal who
(b) has been dead for 15 years (dying 1999)
( c ) whose words did not appear in print until 13 years after he was dead, by a
(d) mainstream media journalist
(e) despite the opportunity for said journalist to make the accusation while said criminal was still alive (Baum wrote a book in 1996 in which he omitted the quote).

Nothing "happens" some of us already knew this

You can shit on the source, but if you know the history of our government that's not a surprise (Exibits A Hoover's maniacal fascination with the activities of black leaders namely MLK)

I skimmed through a NYTimes article on the letter Hoover sent to MLK just now, which is something I never knew about.

Not looking for an argument, more so looking for information here.

I was listening to the Leonard Lopate show the other day and heard a similar claim on the show. The person being interviewed had an agenda, the legalization of all drugs. He wanted the drugs to be sold and produced by the government.

Imagine that, making an emotional argument based on race to legalize all drugs. That is how you get an issue to have traction that disgusts people. Make those who oppose it into bigots.

It probably is half to mostly true. We all know the war on drugs is extremely excessive on everybody. Still some drugs don't need to be legal and heroine is one of them. That can wreck someone's life like no other drug.

Using the drugs to the point where it only affects you isn't bad, it's just most addicts run out of money. Then they resort to robbing and stealing to get enough money for drugs. So should you punish drug possession/abuse? No but you should double down on the other crimes many addicts commit.

Again if you use drugs to the point where it wrecks your life. That's on you.

Ever heard of COINTELPRO?
Also take a look at the circumstances during the 1960s (anti-Vietnam movement; black rights; social inequality being in the spotlight etc.) and the reaction by the rulers (for example, the spate of assassinations of prominent figures including the POTUS) and then take a look at society after the 1960s (the average standard of living in the USA has been declining since the early 1970s). The USA became a very different nation and society after the 1960s. Connect some dots. There are no coincidences here.
Hence, unlike others who posted here, I do not believe the revelations in the Huffpost article are trivial.

I am shocked, shocked, that someone like Ehrlichman could have been involved in something like this.

As a side note, when the initial description said 'Nixon White House Aid', I was expecting H.R. Haldeman; but considering how Ehrlichman acted in front of the Watergate committee, I am not surprised.
