ALDI forced to change name of paint after complaint from sexual assault victim

“I contacted Aldi afterwards and they just assumed I was being sensitive because I was a rape victim.

Aldi has now changed the label.

The chain said in a statement: “This paint is a colour widely referred to in the industry as ‘RAL 1021 Rape Yellow’, which refers to rapeseed.

“The colour name will be altered to rapeseed yellow for all future production of this paint.”

When I was a kid we used to grow "rape" here on the farm (and yes as young boys we used to snicker about it, just like if a man's name was "Dick" or a rooster was called a "cock") Then some time in the eighties "rape" became "canola"

Concerning the name change, why change it to "Rapeseed Yellow"? Clearly it's the fields of rape that have that yellow colour, not the seeds.

I propose: "Rapeblossom Yellow".
