More news to follow no doubt - per CNN interviews it was a single person who has visited the Capitol before. Gun was found at metal detector and gunman was shot.

One female wounded - not sure if guest, or guard.

And they've already let us all know that it's not terrorism, just a criminal act.

Sounds like the female injury was shrapnel. The gunman is in surgery.

"U.S. Capitol Police shot a male suspect Monday afternoon after he pulled out a gun at the Capitol Visitor Center, law enforcement officials said.

A female civilian bystander was injured by shrapnel, but no U.S. Capitol Police officers were injured.
"We believe this is an act of a single person who has frequented the Capitol grounds before, and there is no reason to believe this is anything more than a criminal act," said Capitol Police Chief Matthew Verderosa during a brief news conference.
"The suspect was taken into custody and transported tot he hospital for treatment. The suspect is currently undergoing surgery. His condition is unknown at this time. A weapon was recovered on the scene," he said."

Well this sort of contributes to the theory of delay with announcements. They've already announced a name - Randall Dawson, 66, from Tennessee. He's previously been arrested for assaulting a police officer in the House of Representatives while claiming he was a "prophet of God".


Quick announcement = not a perpetrator who would be politically incorrect to identify.

Larry Dawson is a 66-year-old black male Pastor from Tennessee, activist for increasing the minimum wage to $15/hr. Claimed he was a "Prophet from God". Poor guy should've just moved to California.

There's a lot of crazy gunmen out there of all stripes nowadays.
