Fairly recently moved back home after living in another country for a bit, and towards the end of my time in that country, I more or less started dating this girl there (more or less because it was only for a couple weeks), who I still keep in touch with quite frequently. I still like this girl a lot and I'm pretty sure she feels the same, and we'd definitely be dating if we lived in the same city.

In any case I planned a trip with some friends who haven't been to this country before, and I'm wondering if I should I tell her I'm coming, or surprise her somehow when I get there? Obviously I'm gonna have a good time with my friends regardless, and I have plenty other girls in this country that I've kept in touch with as well, but I'd be lying if I said that I wouldn't be pretty disappointed if I showed up there only to find she's gone on vacation for the weekend.

Don't surprise her. It never works out well. Let her know and give her time to build anticipation.

The consensus is correct. Not only could it present a logistical problem if you don't mention it, but it will come across as beta. Planned suprises are always beta.

Be yourself... kidding.

-Smile. It helps.
-Dumb yourself down meaning talk about random stuff like this traffic sucks, why is it so hot, I love coffee, etc.. Make statements (not questions) but make them simple like this. Don't let your mind fuck you over by complicating simplicity.
-Do not talk too much. Enjoy silences. Let her talk.
-Do not ask too many questions. If you make a statement, if she likes you enough, she'll respond. If not, she may not be interested.
-Keep going until she asks a question. That's big.

Ya I know its more of a travel question but since it was my first post I figured it would go here. In any case, I agree that if I just showed up there it might look a bit desperate, but the fact that I'm going with friends changes things a bit no?

Don't surprise her, there's probably a 99.9% chance she's getting dicked by someone else as I write this. At least giving her some heads up gives her a chance to wash her face and wash out her mouth.
