I'm curious is anyone doing adult here? He spent $400k on banner ads, rest is pure profit.

Apparently the biggest consumers were asian males

The marketers are intentionally targeting asians, I used a Japanese VPN to browse xvideos.com all I got was dick pills ads, I changed my VPN to Germany and the amount of ads decreased.

I think there is decent money to be made in Adult Affiliate marketing. Let's brainstorm!

The problem with "affiliate" stuff is that people use very shady shit to redirect people to their stuff. For example, I get around 55 e-mails per day (fortunately my spam filter eats most of them) about "make money quick", "get rich online fast". They use zombies to hack mailservers (open relays) and relay their shit through that, so it appears to be legit, from a real server, and the originating IP / sender are different everytime, making it almost impossible to block.

Unless you are really, really lucky and a guru at marketing, affiliate marketing is saturated and there's no money to be made anymore. People use blockers to detect aff links, and you can't read an honest review about something online without realizing that the review is biaised, and includes an affiliate link.

There used to be very popular e-books about making money online, that taught buyers how to do affiliate marketing, by advising them to start testing using this very e-book. So in short, "Pay me, and I will show you how you can give me more money".

It's foolish to dismiss an entire category of marketing that millions of businesses are using to great effect.

It's like saying "advertising is dead".

The most successful affiliates rarely rely on "shady shit". Just look at people like Eben Pagan - they simply have mastered sales funnel creation and paid advertising.

It's difficult for even website owners to automatically block affiliate links, and cloaking makes it next to impossible.

Product reviews often have affiliate links. Everyone knows that but it doesn't stop people making loads of money with it. If it's a valuable review, you'll click the link to thank the reviewer.

If you couldn't get affiliate marketing to work for you that's fine, but don't spout misinformation.

I can't find the article right now, but I remember reading about a guy who made 70 million in less than 2 years selling dick pills to people. He mainly used direct mail and found an extremely targeted list of people. These people would then sign up for a subscription at around 60$ a month and the average person used them for 3 months.

The money isn't in affiliate marketing, it's creating a product yourself and getting a list of people to sell to. Facebook's advertising can be incredibly targeted. Here's a quick one for asian males that I did in less than 5 mins.

Pro-Tip: Right now I am affiliate marketing through Craigslist, using domain forwarding (since Craigslist blocks most affiliate links)

Do you perhaps mean Vincent James? He's the guy that made over $100 million in two years before the government put him in jail.

He's the author of 12 Month Millionaire, I've read the book and it's great (even Gary Halbert recommends it). His book is the first one that explained the math behind sales funnels - the stuff Ryan Deiss today talks about.

I think they actually took all of his money eventually...that's why he started his consultation business. But anyways, the info is good even if the guy is sketchy. It's about offline advertising - direct mail, advertising in magazines, telemarketing etc. but the ideas are pretty much applicable to internet marketing too.

I spent a lot of time on it a few years ago. Had a little success but it seemed for every person making $1,000/day there were 100 more making nothing.

To me it seemed like a lot of luck along with persistence, skill, and the ability to large scale test (large bankroll). If you can make it, that's awesome.

jake is about right. There are people buying traffic so, there are people making money. But it's so saturated and technical and the people making real money have been doing it years or partnered with people who have.

It's one of these near zero-sum games where competition drives it to a highly developed level - like trading - so as a new entrant you're almost certainly going to get completely taken.

The best way is to stumble upon or meet someone who's really genuinely crushing it and persuade them to show you how it works. NOT someone selling a course, but someone who will explain how things really work and what's required. Hard though because nobody wants to give away their profitable campaigns or systems. But if you can make a good friend who's successful you can learn alot.

BTW- all this refers to aff marketing via ppc/media buys.

You can absolutely still make money in a more whitehat way with an authoritative content website with affiliate links to relevant products, and advertising deals. But really that's a different game. Slower, but more sustainable and likely to be modestly profitable -- *if* you pick a commercial problem worth solving, and you steadily build over time.

Or if you want to skip all that and jump straight into business, the quickest way is simply launch a service. Either deliver it yourself, or pay others to do so and pocket the profits. Much simpler and you could be making sales in a couple of weeks if you do it right.

I'm in the process of launching 3 clickbank products at the same time. I'll open up a datasheet about it once the products are released. I outsourced most of the work including the product creation.

Once the products are up, I'll hire a fulltime Affiliate manager to recruit the affiliates.

I didn't set any goals regarding income, I just want to test the waters for now.
I budgeted 6k for 3 products, I'm going under budget now

I think we're on the same page but when people say "Aff marketing" they tend to refer to being an affiliate running campaigns with ppc etc. Characterized by all sorts of shady traffic techniques and high churn of campaigns and offers etc.

If you own the product, you're running a product business which is an infinitely better move these days and more likely to be profitable (if you've done it right)

I said to myself one day why am I promoting other peoples product? Is it easier to promote 15 different products or make a product and get 15 people to promote it? You make better use of leverage when you create a product.

My thoughts are all theory now, but I'm in the process of turning it into practice. I'm basically rebranding one of the popula clickbank product but I will sell it from a completely different angle and to a different audience.

I hope it works so I can create a legendary datasheet

There's nothing dodgy about PPC affiliate marketing. It's the digital equivalent of direct mail.

Anybody making real money online has mastered PPC/media buys.

You can't be at the mercy of Google for traffic. It's too unreliable. And what's more, a lot of products are more "demand generation" as opposed to demand fulfillment (ie..nobody is looking for the product). Search engines are useless for those offers...

I kind had to lol when you called SEO whitehat. You realize that BlackhatWorld forum started entirely to discuss blackhat seo methods? SEO can be extremely dirty. And actually, it's more complex/difficult for a newbie to master it.
