Science will often tell you one thing one day and then something completely different the next.

My mom used to give me shit when I was growing up for eating 6 eggs a day when I was bodybuilding. It was supposed to give me a heart attack or something. Never happened. Now they say eggs are good. I'm sure in another 5-10 years eggs will go back to being the devil's food.

All that cortisol from all the stress you get, stressing over deadlines, essays, final exams, the fact that your grades can determine your fate in life and a smarmy fucking teacher can determine your grades both objectively and subjectively can't be too healthy.

I didn't know you grew up in my house.

It was my dad who gave me the most shit actually. He used to lift himself when younger. But he got a heart attack at 48, and both my grandpa and uncle on my mother's side succumbed to heart attacks.

Lately I've been wondering if his concerns are legit.

The cancer mentioned is directly linked to hormones , specifically estrogen. I doubt it has much to do with the education process, it may have something to do with college girls being on oral contraceptives.

No surprise there, really. Higher education is correlated with higher intelligence, and higher intelligence is correlated with greater brain volume. Greater brain volume means more cells, which means a higher risk of cancer. It's for this same reason that tall men have a higher incidence of cancer than short men.

In other words, it's not higher education that causes increased brain cancer risk, but being born with a higher than average IQ.

Most heart disease is linked to genetics and extenuating risk factors like stress and poor diet.

Cancer is often the same way too.
