I'm really surprised I couldn't find a thread on this.

We all know quality of sleep is huge, and considering how much time we spend in bed banging and resting, it seems that would be a great place to spend some money or at least not be cheap.

I just bought a Simmons Beauty Rest Mattress.

I started looking for sheets and a comforter on Amazon and can't decide what is good and what is not.

I really like latex pillows. Once you try one of those you'll never go back to down pillows again! There are different sizes and options, and they last a long time. Down pillows tend to go flat after a while.

I also get a zipping pillow cover to protect the pillow and help prevent the steady accumulation of dead skin/ dust mites on the pillow. You can wash the zipping pillow cover a few times, but eventually it gets to the point where you throw it out (and the pillow will still look really nice and brand new).

I get a silk pillowcase to go with it all. It is better for your skin and hair.

I tried silk sheets once, they are nice when it is really hot out, but they are too slippery and fall off the bed easily. I just get normal cotton sheets now.

What kind of style are you looking for?

I would say Bed, Bath, and Beyond has some dope shit; available in many colors, designs, and brands. They always have 20-30% off coupon so you won't pay full price. Sign up for the texting or email list, 20% off $200+ adds up.

However, Williams-Sonoma has some neat stuff and probably the best among the competition. If you want a more contemporary look go for West-Elm, part of Williams Sonoma. It's a bit more expensive but the quality is there, you can feel the better fabric and it will last for years making it cheaper in the long run. Also, they have coupons so you won't pay MSRP. Ikea should have some good stuff

You're better off spending the most on a great mattress. Spending a lot on bedding but skimping on a mattress is like buying a Bentley while still living in a trailer park.

Starting with sheets, I prefer the cheap jersey cotton over more expensive options. They are really soft and cost less than twenty bucks. I used to have some Egyptian cotton sheets (lower thread count if I remember correctly). They just weren't as comfortable as the jersey sheets I buy at Walmart.

And if sex gets a little too messy, I'll just throw them out and buy another set. Why bother worrying about staining when they're that cheap? I'm not about to drop over a hundred bucks on 1500 thread count Egyptian cotton, only to stress about some bitch staining them because I forgot to kill the mood and put a towel down.

If you live somewhere with harsh winters, flannel sheets are awesome. You can only use them in the winter though as they can get really hot.

Regarding comforters, I use a big fluffy down comforter. My ex used to have a quilted comforter, it didn't come close to the warmth or comfort of a down one. Mine is white. That way, I can buy any color set of sheets and I don't have to match anything. I have a few different color sheet sets I rotate through. If I'm banging multiple girls, I'll just wash and put the same ones back on so it doesn't look like I'm routinely changing them after certain days/nights.

I have a really thick and soft fleece blanket on the bed as well. It's also white. It feels like a heavy duty, full-sized baby blanket.

My summer set up is jersey sheets with the down comforter. When it starts getting cold, I throw my fleece blanket between the sheet and comforter.

I don't have a fancy headboard or frame on my bed, but they add a nice touch if that's your thing. I'll probably splurge on a nice wooden frame and headboard once I'm done living in apartments and have matching curtains and shit. My bed just has a basic metal frame and basic box spring with a nice pillow top mattress.

Beds and bedding is a subject close to my heart.

This July, I got a Sealy Optimum Elation Gold King Size, and I couldn't be happier. Its just the best. The metric I use to judge it is this: I have one of those waterproof cordless phones that has buzz mode. Plus Iphone and blackberry. When those things are on the bed, you can't feel them buzz. That's good.

I've had a tempurpedic, and it sucked. Also a sleep number that I could never get right, and took back. In july , I replaced a Serra Oakbridge Luxury Firm that I got from Sams Club. I really liked it, but I was watching my cousins cat and it must have pissed on the corner.

As far as sheets are concerned, I think buying online is a bad idea. You gotta feel them. Do you have Ross's around you? They got rows and rows of fancy stuff at the bigger ones here in Hawaii. I just got some the other day that are 1500 thread count for $59. They said they were normally $209. The thing is, I think they are all slightly different. I have some that are way lower and feel a lot silkier. I switch them at least every other day.

A few years ago I had to get a suit for a wedding. It was only at Neiman Marcus and it was about $800. I hated it and took it back. They only gave me store credit, and I got these super fancy designer sheets that they monogrammed my name on the pillowcases. These things are like sleeping in heaven. The bottom flat sheet sort of wore thin, and I only used them on very special occasions.

Pillows are next. I keep about six on there. I usually get two of the king size. Two standards, and then two special ones. I got these ISO Cool ones off the internet. I love them.

I've had a frame that was custom made and looked like this:


You wind up whacking your shins and knees on it in the middle of the night. Its awful. I suggest one like this:


Lots of support and no frills. I've also had them with wood all the way around, in which case you pound your toes into the boards in the middle of the night.

This Simmons mattress I bought is really great, although I almost said screw it and bought a "platinum plush gel/foam" mattress for a 1000 bucks.

It sounds like the one you describe Kona. Nothing was moving on this bed and since it's gel, it stays cool. A grand is more than I want to spend right now though.

The one I got is firm but somehow very soft also which I like. Simmons makes a great mattress.

I bought two memory foam pillows already but I will look up the IOS cool ones too.

That's not the exact model I have, and don't see any number on it. Mine has adjustable leg heights, so I still got the box springs on it. That's not really how their supposed tho be used, but this frame gives lots of even support and its not higher up than normal.


You can get some leg attachment plates like that and screw them all over the bottom of the springs. You get a lot more solid feel, and you can set them back a little to avoid stubbing your toes. I'll probably put them on my new one soon now that I know I'm keeping it. They ruin your warranty.

No you need that, but not the frame.

You just get a bunch of furniture feet like this:

Then you put them every foot and a half or so along the wood on the bottom of the box springs. Hotels have them like that sometimes. Its a lot more solid if its level, which you can adjust easily.

I recommend spending a bit on a quality waterproof mattress protector, one that zips around the whole mattress.

This has saved me countless times in terms of overly menstrual chicks, squirters or even the odd occasion when you inadvertently wreck the pussy to bleeding point (which is more insidious than period).

When it gets stained, just soak it in bleach for a bit and the stains will come out easily. Way better than dealing with a soiled mattress, particularly if it's an expensive one.

I buy satin sheets online at Amazon, they feel like silk but they are much stronger than silk. Its sexy and ready to go.

Satin sheets = romantic bed

I also prefer the color black or red for bed sheets and pillow case, in case of any female fluid accidentally discharge on to the bed.

For mattress I prefer foam, as it feel awesome, I also prefer a low to the ground bed, it shows a modern and good look, also purchase on amazon.

-Cheap metal frame. No frame is pointless, for $30 the bed is higher, looks professional, and I can store a shit ton of clothes with those roller containers.

-These sheets in sexy dark burgandy. Affordable lower thread count Egyptian cotton, still feels amazing.

-Bed in the corner like Travesty posted about (somewhere?). Trav explained it pretty well but it's more primal to be in the corner, hoes can't escape your sex cave and it saves space

I'll second the Jersey sheet sets. They're very soft and cheap plus last a long time. Since they stretch, the fitted sheet actually stays on my pillowtop mattress instead of sliding off nightly.

I use a waterproof mattress protector. Saved me multiple times and keeps my mattress clean and new.

For sheets I bought mine from a Canadian company named Au Lit Fine Linens. They make higher end sheets but I actually got the cheapest one they have because they came in the color I wanted, still expensive. It was worth it though because I actually ripped a corner with my nail when putting it on my mattress, I called the company and told them what happened and they shipped me a new sheet no questions asked.

Don't skimp out on sheets, they make a yuge difference. If you have ever been to a top end hotel you'll know what I'm talking about. Hotels have beds down to a science.

Feel GREAT when you lay down on them.

You'll need to actually sleep on one to see if your back can handle the softness. I usually end up falling asleep QUICKLY on them, but find myself waking up VERY sore.

Not worth it at all, for me. I prefer a firmer bed. Some people it works great for.

I went into Ross today following Kona's advice and found some sheets that are 600 thread count Egyptian Cotton. They're soft and I'm happy with them.

I went next door to target and found a cool comforter that's 100% cotton.

These will be fine until I can shop around for something more higher end and then I'll rotate them through.

I've been sleeping in hotels and airbnb now for so long I forgot all about this stuff.

Edit - I also ordered to ISO Cool pillows off amazon. One is body contour, one is standard.

I got a Ghostbed back in June and I love it. Only cost $700, too. There are always deals online to get $50 off the listed, price. Not super soft, not ultra firm, a good spot in between.



To store sheets/blankets/pillow covers/whatever else, I grabbed the Ikea Malm bedframe. Tons of storage space.

As a suggestion, get something to protect the floor from the bed feet, especially if it's hardwood floors. The bed moves a lot.

I provide my tenants with coasters that have non-slip rubber on the bottom, but you could also get a rectangular felt pad and cut-to-fit

Nothing makes a landlord happier than to see their tenant is protecting the floors from their furniture

I'm a big fan of a bed frame/box spring/stack height that allows you not only storage room under the bed (if you choose) but most importantly puts the bed at an ideal height for fucking a girl while she's laying down on her back or on her front while you are banging away from standing height. Gives you more options and is comfortable for both you and her.
