While a comment in jest, this comment got me thinking about things that would be good to invest in based on understanding the realities of the way society (western) is heading. I got thinking of some, and here's what I quickly came up with:

Anti-Depressants: With a growing increase in the amount of single, childless women, there's little doubt in my mind that this will be a growing industry. The numbers are already quite high.

Organic Filtration Units: More specifically for water treatment. Regulation of pharmaceuticals in water supply is currently limited but has been identified by the EPA as a problem needing to be addressed, and regulation is currently being developed to address it. With an increase in pharmaceutical usage to boot, this could be a good area to invest in.

Marijuana: Reasons related to anti-depressants, but I'd argue it's more applicable to the population writ large.

Anyone that makes sex robots: Once again, a financial play on the increasing atomization of society.

Fertility Drugs: When the realization sets in that the consumption lifestyle isn't as fulfilling as the ads promised, there's going to be slews of women desperate to try to have families near the end of their fertile years.

Pet Supplies: Related to original comment that this post was inspired by.

So that's just a basic list I came up with. As you can tell, with the exception of the water treatment stuff, my impression of the future is one where people will delve further and further into ways to anesthetize themselves, perhaps I'm just a cynic (granted, with the Brexit move and possible election of Trump, maybe diapers are the good play here). I'll add more as I think about this topic more. Meanwhile, please share your ideas as well. Thanks.
