I know this probably isnt the place for this. However, if I wanted to ask anybody. I would ask the guys That frequent ROK.

I major in construction at a local universtiy. Transferred this year after getting my associates from a community college. I like to joke around in a fun way to liven the mood in class, no personal jokes, no being a douche, not a loud annoying guy.

The class is a soil testing lab, and the teacher is a overweight guy in his late twenties. Guy is dead serious, first year teaching, wont crack a smile, laugh or joke. These are my experiences.

1. First week of lab he told my group to fill our container with soil from the bin. I proceed to scrape soil into the container when he says Stop loudly. He pulls out another container and says use this dirty one. I look at my group, smile, and say "I thought I committed a OSHA violation" just to liven the mood. My group laughs then, about two seconds later. He says to me in a low neutral tone "Not everyone worked out this mourning" and walks away???? At first I didnt know how to take that, so I assumed it was positive. If I have a serious question about a calcualtion equation or aspect of a lab, the majority of the time he will respond "Figure it out", or "I dont know, is it?

2. Throughout the semester every single time me and my buddies have a chat about random things till class starts. He will sit at the front, and every single time I make a statement or opinion. He becomes condescending and finds some small reason as to why he is wrong. If I try to reason with him, he will change the subject and argue until I give up. I've come to a point where I think there is no reasoning with him.

3. Today was alot of what was previously mentioned. It started off with my buddy talking about something he screwed up, and laughing about it. He said if its worth doing its worth doing right. I just replied ya but alot of the time you have to do it wrong in order to get it right. He instantly butts in real serious. Long story short he says thats the kind of person that will accept failure, and therefore never learn from it. I instantly knew if I argued it would be drawn out, therefore no reasoning with him. Somehow he changes the topic around in a way to make fun of me being 20 and still being in a first year class(angry vocal tone). Later in the lecture he explains that going to a career fair this weekend will get bonus points. I simply ask if we have to stay a certain amount of time at fair. He goes into how once again Im trying to get by with the bare minimum, and says the people like me wont last long in the field. At the end of lecture he asks if anyone knows a girl I went to high school with. I just say the I graduated with her. Instantly gets loud and says "You graduated with Her?? He then goes into a rant about how you never reference your high school graduation in college, shakes his head at the quiet class.

I dont let people like this get to me, but now this class is very awkward.

Im not the type to go tell someone about my issue, what would you do?

I don't understand this post/thread at all. Today is November 28. If you are in a U.S. University, you literally have a couple of weeks left in the Fall semester, then you take finals. What's the issue? It seems as though you are worried about things that have already happened, especially if you don't have this same professor next semester. That being said, the last people you want to piss off when you are in college are your professors. Just do your best not to piss him off. I only had a remote issue with this one time in college, with a professor who I thought was a flaming faggot and dropped the course and just took an extra course the next semester. I knew I wasn't going to do well if I had stayed in that class and up until that point, I had an excellent academic record in college.

I understand now. I think the best you can do is just to be extra careful when you are around him and do your best to stay on his good side.

If he is the only way you can get the degree then keep your mouth shut around him. Don't give him an excuse to give you crappy marks.
The only reason why he acts like that is because he has some sort of power. Not much but enough to make your life hell if he wants to. The only other alternative is to change schools and finish your degree elsewhere. Once a professor has it out for you there's not much you can do. Going to the school administration will be very time consuming and won't amount to much unless the accusations are very serious.

Don't talk in class, don't joke around with your buddies, and don't do anything to draw attention to yourself.

There are some things in life that you'll never have an answer to. In this case, it seems like there's something up his ass, and it's probably not worth your while finding out what it is. Maybe you remind him of someone who anally raped him when he was a freshman himself. Who knows?

Just do what it takes to get the credits you need to pass your courses, and if that means dampening your personality while you're in this teacher's course, then so be it. It's not a great sacrifice in the long run. Don't waste you're energies figuring trivial things out, it's not like you're trying to bang this guy.

This right here is where you messed up with him the very first week, he's a sad miserable dude and with that joke (which he probably took it as people laughing at him), you gave him an excuse to put you in his shit list.

Now you are gonna need to do what Brother Abdul said or try to be the friendliest you can with him to see if you can get in his good side even if you dislike him.

Being friendly to this guy isn't going to do it. It will just feed his dislike for you. He seems to be by the book. Just stop joking around and be serious. You're going to have to learn how to be serious on the job, so start now. If you think you're going to stand around dropping one liners on the job, you've got a lot to learn.

Have you considered that you may be making this guy's job harder with your behavior? I guarantee, if this guy recognizes an ounce of maturity on your part, he'll treat you differently.
