I've always had wide feet, so buying shoes has always been a pain. I'm actually considering going on-line to buy shoes, although I do worry that I will have to ship them back if they don't fit. Where do you guys buy shoes? I'm especially interested in hearing from guys who have wide feet.

One place I like a lot is Big Five Sporting Goods. They always seem to have a great selection. I just tell them I want New Balance shoes size 10.5 EEEE. They bring everything out, and I pick a few pairs that I like. Unfortunately, the closest store is now well over 500 miles away.

Do you all think shoes that are $100 or $150 are worth it? I've generally stayed under $70 per pair.

I am also a big fan of New Balance. It's easy to find shoes that fit.

I'm in the same boat. Zappos.com free overnight shipping. Free returns. I always order 4 or 5 pairs and just keep what fits best and return the rest.

Except I'm size 15EE so any regular store just doesn't work for me. Nordstrom usually carries the bigger sizes but Zappos is hands down the best for me. Huge selection too. If you need dress shoes， I prefer Alan Edmonds. With some patience, you can get a lightly used pair on eBay for under $100.

Have you checked out Keen shoes? They are especially wide around the toes, and if you look at them from the bottom, they look kind of like a spoon near the front end. They are pretty popular and should be available somewhere near you where you can try them on. I have owned their hiking boots and sandals, and there is so much room for the front of the foot, that wearing a pair of their hiking boots can almost feel as roomy as wearing a sandal.

They focus on active wear like hiking and walking, so I don't know if the style is what you are looking for, still, they are wider than most shoes, and popular enough you could probably try them on before buying.

I usually like boots. Like Timberlands or Lugz. Those are good for wide feet.

I actually gave Big 5's online store a shot yesterday. I ordered two pairs of New Balances for about $75 with shipping. I've noticed they only have the cheaper New Balances.

There are a couple New Balance stores around, but they only sell that's over $100.

I've noticed there are two groups of New Balance shoes. There is one group that is sold in places like Big 5, Academy, Kohl's, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc. There is another that is only sold in outlet stores, etc.

Zappos did have a better selection of New Balances. Maybe I will give them a shot next time.

Finally, I'd like to give a nice plug to DSW. I was buying a pair of dressier shoes and found a pair I actually liked for around $40. The cashier checked the shoes and actually noticed they were different sizes. I was naturally disappointed. To their credit, the sales people told me I could pick out any pair I wanted and get it for the SAME PRICE.

I'm not a big fan of boots, but I have owned some high-tops in the past. I was a proud owner of these shoes when I was a teenager. Yes, I did have purple shoelaces.
