Your recollection of German history goes back as far as the Munich Olympics huh? I wouldn't write off the crouts quite yet. The Germans are probably the most polite, well-mannered people in the world, and they are not easy to anger. But when they are repeatedly prodded and poked and harassed, and when they do eventually get angry...... well, let's just say that you don't want to get the Germans angry.

I would say that rapes, killings, shootings, trucks rampaging in Christmas markets are a good reason for Germans to get angry. If they didn't get angry before I struggle to consider they will suddenly go #DeusVult mode and get things done. I hope they do, that I do!

I love the Germans-- even studied their language. Maybe attacks like these will incite a re-awakening, although I'm not holding my breath.

The device didn't work and he was arrested, but neither he nor his parents were charged with any crime. The kid tried to do the same thing last week, with the bomb failing to detonate yet again. Still no charges have been filed.

I've worked with a lot of Polish immigrants who live in Chicago. Mostly very good, hard-working people. A few bad apples, but terrorism isn't their MO. If anything, they tend to be involved with petty crimes. If this guy is truly an ethic Pole, I'm certain the truck was highjacked.
