If you see 2 hot girls at the grocery store, do you pick one from the start (and essentially ignore the other) or open both and game both, or open both then steer towards one? Assume you are by yourself.

In the situation you described, I'm picturing two girls who are friends and are shopping together:

. Open both girls. An "opinion opener" would work well at a grocery store.

. Use a false time constraint. This serves a two-fold purpose -- it's a DHV spike showing you're a person of importance with other places to be, and also to make them more comfortable with your presence knowing you won't be talking to them for long (at least until you've built rapport with them).

. Create a jealousy plotline by talking more to the less attractive girl, and teasing the more attractive girl.

. Try and gauge which girl is more receptive to you -- if one's a more interested 7, and the other's a less interested 8, I'm willing to lose the extra point of attractiveness in order to have a better chance at a bang.

. Exchange social media contact info (probably more effective than number closing two girls) and later zero-in on your girl of choice. That way neither girl is offended publicly by not being "the chosen one."

It's pretty simple to transition into the "social media close" by saying something like, "Well, I better get going but are you guys on (fill in the blank social media platform)? If I ever have another grocery dilemma, you guys are my go-to." It may be cheesy, but it's simple and it works. If you've done your job well up to that point, they shouldn't have any issue with exchanging contact info.

Open the one that is closer to you, ignore the other one.

I disagree, have a very broad opening to where they can both respond. Include both in your conversation so they both feel comfortable. Alienating one of them could make that girl a potential cock block out of jealousy.

If they are both on your good side, only good things can happen.

I'm guessing you would have to try out the scenario a few times to get an idea of the dynamic first. Assuming their friends is something I would do if I were with my friends out at the club.
