Edit: Drinking culture in the UK can be traced back hundreds of years. Back in the day, it used to be safer to drink beer than it was to drink the filthy water in towns and cities.

Beer was also much weaker then and people did more physical forms of work so that balances it out a lot.

I do like a drink when I'm seeing a DJ or at a festival/occasion but I do find the weekend obsession in the UK with alcohol quite sad. It does sum up the majority of people here having no life purpose. All people talk about is when the next night out will be, both guys and girls.

Good point. They are just braindead mate, I can't be bothered for people who live in a fantasy world, whether an obsession sports, getting drunk or some other idiotic behavior. You have to be in the trenches in this life because it is a battle. Whether one chooses to believe this or not doesn't alter the fact it is.

I highly doubt it. They had to be working the land, tending the animals, obviously there isn't much to do outside of harvest time, but still requires maintenance I.e. vermin/predator control, some harvests are year round and require constant upkeep. And they were God fearing people too. When do you see a god fearing person getting drunk?
