Moving to Sydney permanently next month.
Any ideas where to live ? Keeping in view I'll be commuting to University of Sydney every other day.
Would something near in and around Bondi Beach be good enough? I also plan on hosting Couchsurfing.

You need to add more that that, such as interests, to get some insight.

For starters, Bondi beach to USyd via public transport can be a bit of a chore. Can you swim?

Budget? If its huge, Elizabeth bay perhaps?

If you're working 7-11 to pay fees, Harris Park.

Need to be close to a Hindu temple? Helensburgh...

Want to get stabbed? Lakemba.

Shame you didn't opt for the Gold Coast.

I only visited for three days and by the time I got home I needed a neck brace.

Yeah Bondi Beach ($300-$450 a week for your own room) is a sick choice, it's where I live now. If you are going to usyd though, as already mentioned, it's annoying to get to. Buses here are direct to the city, but to get to usyd you need to catch a short 2nd bus. Fuck that.

Depending on your vibe, you might like Newtown ($200-$350 a week), which is where I grew up and it's right next to the uni. Too many hipsters for me though.

Of course you can move out West if you need to save money... lol

Nowhere else besides Bondi Beach in Sydney (maybe a few other parts of Eastern suburbs) compares for hot girls - locals and foreigners. Bondi is FULL of Brazilian/French/Spanish/Chilean girls and they aren't really anywhere else.

A word of warning: the competition here (especially Bondi) will kill you unless you are bringing your A-game.

Not really looking to spend too much, probably going to rent a room until I get a hang of the city.
Already paid the fees, rent's the only concern.
Almost an atheist, if that helps.

haha I actually plan on walking / cycling the shorter stretch.
Newtown sounds interesting tbh. But I Haven't been around many hipsters before so not entirely sure if I'll be able to connect with them. Let's see.
Haha yeah, I know it's gonna be a tough one. Here's hoping it helps me hone my skills.

I used to live in Newtown.

It can get noisy, and it's the second gayest part of the city which might be a shock if you aren't used to that kind of culture.
