It looks like this was a racially motivated attack by a black bigot who had a grudge against other ethnic groups (i.e., Latins) who he believed were "hijacking" Christianity.

This is the reason stated in the article, anyway. The real reason is probably that the assaulter was a bitter loser who felt he wasn't getting enough attention, or was just mentally deficient.

"While the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has declined to comment on Miller’s motive, his Facebook profile offers a glimpse into the alleged assailant’s state of mind shortly before he was caught on video bopping the bishop.

Many people beat me to it but I also wonder - how did cops got there instantly? Are cops normally present in churches in USA? If no then why did the pimp looking guy choose to attack bishop near cops and not during another service without cops? Also the cop seemed to follow the pimp bet only tried to stop him after the punch not before. Very strange.
